Introduction to RailPage
Last updated Mon 22 Nov 1993
RailPage is an experimental railfan information service. It is intended to
provide information about forthcoming railfan tours and events in Australia.
Like railway magazines, it relies on reader input.
The list is maintained by David Bromage <bro...@mdw010.cc.monash.edu.au>.
Contributions from readers are welcome by email or fax (03) 565 4597.
I would like to thank Roderick B. Smith, editor of Rail News Victoria for
his substantial contributions to this list. RNV subscriptions are $32 per
year (12 issues). Write to RNV, Box 146, Surrey Hills, Victoria, 3127.
Prices quoted are in Australian currency. Where three prices are shown,
they are for adults/seniors/children. Where two prices are shown, they are
for adults/children.
If you wish to submit an item, please include the following information:
Organiser (e.g. Australian Railway Historical Society - <state> Division)
Destination and route (e.g. Melbourne to Echuca via Seymour, returning
via Bendigo)
Motive power (e.g. 3642 and 3801)
Any special occasion (e.g. Woop Woop Centenary, last train to ______)
Any special operations (e.g. double heading, parallel running, photostops)
Fares, including any meals available
Address/telephone/fax/email contact for more information
How to book. (e.g. mail, phone, fax, BASS, Austickets, buy tickets on the
platform prior to departure, buy tickets at ______ station(s) )
Include as much information as possible in as little space as possible.
As much advance notice of upcoming trips as possible is desired so that
people can plan interstate or overseas trips well in advance. If you know
of a trip planned a number of months ahead, but details such as fares and
timetable are not yet available, then simply the date, destination, organiser
and a contact number will sufficient. Details can be added as they become
available.
RailPage will be available by the following methods:
1) Periodic postings to aus.rail, rec.railroad and fj.rec.rail
2) By anonymous ftp from giaeb.cc.monash.edu.au [130.194.208.4].
Look in the directory /pub/trains/RailPage for the latest copy.
The files are known as vicxxx, nswxxx, qldxxx, saxxx, waxxx, tasxxx,
actxxx, where xxx is a number. vic001 was the first to be uploaded.
Remember, for this service to be successful it needs _your_ input.
Cheers
