Well, I have been reading the threads over the last week or so and
have some points of new confusion for myself. Here are the points at
which I am stuck:

(quick disclaimer: I'm sure that in most of these instances, I'm
overlooking something easy and I can't see the forest for the trees)

1. On the island of myst, I've set up the imager to display the marker
program and can activate it. How do I enter the number of markers? I
try just typing the number and a few other methods and seem to get no
response. Just the marker hologram spinning around.

2. Again on the island, in the log cabin, I have turned on the furnace
and have hear it make loud thumping noises for a bit. Should I be able
to do more at this point or will the big tree come later after some
other bits?

3. In the mechanical age, I know that there are hidden rooms and where
they should be located. How the heck do I get into them?

4. Back on myst island, when I fiddle with the generator, I know the
setting for the spaceship but only the dial for overall poewr seems to
be activated... What am I overlooking?

5. Out of curiosity's sake, which are the first two ages that I am
able to get to? The mechanical age, and...?

I'll say! You've figured out some tough puzzles, but been caught on the
easier ones!

How did you "set up the imager to display the marker program"? How are you
setting the imager? Think about it -- this one should be *easy*, as long
as you've really found the correct number of markers.

Do you notice anything unusual about the big tree after you hear the loud
thumping noises?

Look very carefully around the thrones. Specifically, look to the right of
the holographic imager machine.

You're not supposed to give it TOO much power. There's a way to find out
exactly how much power you're supposed to give it.

You should be able to get to any of the ages.

Think about how you got the marker hologram spinning instead of the
whirlpool. Extend this given the clue on the letter.

Okay, now turn OFF the boiler (it's a boiler not a furnace, this is important)
and see what you can hear (or more importantly, what you can see, and don't
confine yourself to the inside of the cabin...)

Well, you just have to find the doors into them and open them by clicking.
Okay, I'll come right out and say it, look beside the thrones.

I don't know... I must have stumbled upon the answer before I needed to
because right from when I first went into the generator room all of the
power made it straight through. Check the wires is all I can think of...

I don't think it matters what order you do them in... in fact I'm sure it
doesn't. Cyan specifically didn't want to make it too linear.

you need to enter the number of markers on the control panel next to the
stairs>

you heard the tree going up went you turned on the boiler. now all you
have to do is go outside and look up, and figure out how to go from
there.>

you just need to click on the acces panel to get into it.>

you need to find the right combination of buttons to press. also i
think you need to climb the towers and pull the switches.>

you can enter any age that you want.there is no set path.that is why
the game is non-linear. >
