Keywords: Here it is; by far the best character in the Star Wars universe is the two-legged droid that looks like a box with feet. Like all of the other main characters, he appears in every movie; in Star Wars, he is in the Jawa transport along with R2D2 and C-3PO. In ESB, he can be seen aboard one of the Imperial Cruisers in the background. And of course, in Return of the Jedi, he is the unlucky recuipient of branding torture in Jabba the Hutt's palace.
Not only is he a prolific actor, but he also has perhaps the most perceptive lines in the films. Not counting Return of the Jedi (in which he only screams in agony), he says simply >>>>GONK<<<<. Star Wars: He steps forward a bit, says >>>>GONK<<<<, turns slightly, and walks on. Is that a winner or what?
All bow down before Gonk.

Gonk is the Power Droid. Might I point out that he also says
"nononononononononononononononono" as he's getting tortured. One of my
favourite lines (seriously!)

Never seen him in Empire, though. I'll have to take a look. Does anyone
have a collection of Gonk figures theyid be willing to sell? I think I'll
build a Gonk shrine in my basement, right next to my "A Piece of the
Action" (Star Trek episode) alter. Actually, I think I'll do away with
the A Piece of the Action alter and fill my entire basement with Gonk
paraphenalia......

All Hail Emporor Gonk!!!!

Wasn't this droid simply called "Power droid?" I remember I had the little
action figure of this one, but it's been a long time. Looking back on
it, this character may have been a semi-intelligent APU on legs (like the
generators used by the USAF on the flightline to warm up aircraft engines.

The tv droid is certainly a great character, but I must cast my
vote in favor of the tiny box-on-wheels that wanders the first
Death Star beeping merrily to itself -- until Chewie roars and
it runs away screaming. ;-)

Actually, I think the by far best character in the movies is the floor
runner in ANH and ROTJ that runs around the Death Stars. You know who i
mean, the little bugger that Chewie scares the living sh*t out of in ANH
... ;)

GONK IS THE EMPEROR!!!!!!!

Think about it, do you ever see the two together. I don't think so.
And after the "Emperor" dies where is Gonk? He just seems to disappear.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!!!

If you look closely in the background during the scene where luke
removes Darth's mask, you can see the little box-on-wheels go by also.

Gonk is cool.
But I've always liked the little car guy that sings when he travels around the
Death Star.
"Na neee Neee Neee Nuhhhhh"
Eventhough Chewie scares him, he nearly knocks over Darth Vader as he is
walking through a hallway. Go look at the scene.
In Empire, we only see him once on the Super Star Destroyer.
In Jedi, we then see him on a Rebel Ship.

There's also a scene in ESB where 2 of them wheel by AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!

It was all I could do to control myself.

P.S. Where is "Gonk" (Gwon?) in ESB? I looked for him briefly last night,
but couldn't see him...

Actually, I always thought it was an RC car, perhaps a
RC-10, the sound sorta sounded like one, and the RC 10 was around at that
time I believe. And I owned one a few years ago too, I could've made my
very own black box on wheels. :-)

You want funny? In ROTJ, when the good guys get past the shield to land on
Endor, Vader is watching from the Super Star Destroyer. In this scene you can
see two MSE-droids attached to each other roll up to him and stop. Vader walks
over to Admiral Piett, and when he does this the droids take off again! I can
almost hear them: "...uh...excuse us?"

That's sick. Call me oversensitive but I feel horror and revulsion at the
very thought of torture. Even so called comic scenes turn my stomach
(seriously!)

But I do agree with you about Gonk the Power Droid. Next to that little
black box on wheels, he's the nifiest droid around.

Isn't there also a scene in ANH in which a whole load of Stormtroopers are
following (or chasing?) the little black droid through the corridors of the
Death Star.

I assume it was some kind of guide.

I would have loved to have seen Vader trip over one. Can you imagine!...

"Commander tear this ship apart until you find those plans! And being me
the passengers, I want them aliiiiiiive, THUMP!!!

Just a thought
