I just got done watching the rerun of 11001001 and have a small question (I
haven't checked the tape yet).

In 11001001, right after the Ent-D leaves the spacedock,(and the
PA announces that the antimatter containment field is regenerating itself),
the Commander in charge of Ent-D upgrades announces that they are rushing
repairs on a starship to go in pursuit of the supposedly unmanned ship.

The question is: I think that the name of the ship being repaired is the same
ship that Riker is offered in the season finale. I don't know for sure, but
the name struck a chord in me, and this is what I came up with.

Any takers on this one?

Bill

I just checked my videotape, and you are absolutely right! Here are the
relevant lines:

YAR: Commander Kinteros--you have three ships in here. We need one
of them now.

KINTEROS: We're rushing repairs on the U.S.S. Melbourne, but it's still
eighteen hours until she'll be ready.

And in "The Best of Both Worlds," we are told that Riker has been
offered command of the Melbourne. Congratulations, Bill! You have a
great memory.
