general public, only the most recent press releases are listed on the main page
of ABC FamilyNet. The website actually has summary pages for most of its daily

MAUREEN SMITH RESIGNS POST AS PRESIDENT
ABC FAMILY CHANNEL
Burbank, CA (March 26, 2002) Maureen Smith, President ABC Family, has resigned
from her present role as President, ABC Family Channel, effective immediately,
it was announced today by Steve Bornstein, President ABC Television Group.
"I am very proud of ABC Family’s success, it has been a remarkable and
gratifying experience," said Smith. "I made a commitment five-months ago to
stay through the channel’s transition, and my contribution is now complete. I
wish my colleagues continued success, and I am looking forward to new
opportunities."
Added Bornstein, "We are thankful to Maureen for her dedication and leadership,
she built a strong foundation and successfully maintained the channel’s
momentum during the acquisition."
Under Ms. Smith’s direction, ABC Family will have delivered its largest
quarterly increase in the history of the channel (1Q ’02), achieved six
consecutive quarters of year-to-year growth among key adult viewers, and had
the most watched sweep ever this past February. Among the programming she
introduced was the critically acclaimed original series STATE OF GRACE; the
original movies MOMS ON STRIKE starring Faith Ford and THREE DAYS starring
Kristin Davis; and the successful branded holidays 13 Days of Halloween and 25
Days of Christmas.
As the former president of Fox Kids Network, Ms. Smith’s leadership was
influential in establishing Fox Kids as the No. 1 destination for action and
adventure with such series as the phenomenon DIGIMON: DIGITAL MONSTERS.
Previously, Ms. Smith served as executive vice president, Fox Family Channel
and general manager, Fox Kids Network. She joined Fox Kids in 1996 as senior
vice president, planning, scheduling and station relations. Prior to joining
Fox Kids, Ms. Smith served as vice president, children's research for FOX
Broadcasting Company where she provided research and marketing support to all
Fox Kids divisions.
One of the original FOX Broadcasting employees hired, Ms. Smith was with the
FOX organization for 14 years. She began her career in the FOX research and
marketing division, helping to establish station affiliations and FOX’s
initial primetime program schedule. She was also part of an FBC cable relations
team that worked to help local FOX affiliates negotiate better channel
positions with cable operators when the network was in its infancy.

even Digimon is helping anymore......
