For those who've been asking ever since the book was supposed to come out in
October...the Delicate Creatures hardcover graphic novel, my first, comes out
January 4th. The darned thing was finished a month ago, so it's about time.
One advisory: the initial run is only about 16,000 copies, because this is Top
Cow's first stab at a book like this, so it may be a good idea to reserve a
copy if you want to be assured of getting one.

The art is by Michael Zulli, best known for his work on Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

For those who'd like a preview, you can get a look at some of the art (the
preview is in b&w, but the book is in color) at

FYI for those hoping that Image comics got their prediction for January 4
correct. Nope. I just checked Diamond's updated shipping lists for January
4 and January 9. Delicate Creatures is NOT listed under Image Comics
releases for either this week or next week.

However, they are listing Rising Stars for January 9. But be forewarned:
even though the current week's shipping info is usually correct, these
shipping lists are usually very inaccurate when it comes to the "one week
out" information.

It should be noted that Diamond often updates their shipping lists the day of
release, with sometimes significant changes occurring at that time. So while
the entry for the 4th might not have Delicate Creatures currently listed, there
is no reason why it might not pop up on a revised list on the 4th itself.

I'd recommend calling a local comic book store on the 4th to see if they
received their shipment, if it included Delicate Creatures, and if they can set
aside a copy. Sneeker might be right, and the book might not come out on the
4th, but why take a chance?

Which is very odd because I managed to take a gander at the January
4th shipping info on Monday and it was listed. Of course, I also got
rather worried that the Midtown Comics - http://www.midtowncomics -
ship list which is almost identical to the diamond ship list did not
list Delicate Creatures as coming out tomorrow...

Oh well, that puts my comic spending for this week back down to below
$20 for the first time in recent memory.
