Sabbat War Spoiler
Saturday Oct. 28th the pre-release party in Atlanta took place and was
a smashing success by all accounts as the Sabbat triumph over the
wretched Camarilla. Along the way I managed to collect a few new cards
my favorites will be highlighted in the newsletter this month. So
without further ado here’s what I’ve found with some comments.
Inner Essence
Combat
Vic
Text: Play before range is determined. Once this combat, this vampire
can reduce the cost to play a combat card by one blood. A vampire can
play only one Inner Essence each combat.
(S) As above, and gain a blood.
Artist: Steve Prescott
---
Inner Essence should be a great help in fending off those expensive
vicissitude cards and has the added bonus of giving your vamp a blood
back in superior. As anyone can attest, keeping blood on your vamps is
sometimes more important than your actual pool total.
The Path of Metamorphosis
Tzimisce
1 Pool
Text: Unique Master
Put this card in play. Tzimisce burn one less blood when playing cards
that require Vicissitude. Any Minion may burn this card as a (D)
action; if that minion is a vampire, he or she takes one damage (damage
not preventable) when this card is burned.
Artist: Drew Tucker
---
A path all to our own, this card should find a home in most Tzimisce
decks. Also, per card text it applies to all Tzimisce at the table so
no need contesting when a fellow fiend sits down at the table.
Meld with the Land
Combat
Vic
Text: Strike: combat ends and untap the opposing minion.
(S) Strike: combat ends.
Artist: Mike Danza
---
This card aches for limited play environment. The big bonus here is
when you just happen to be deflected to another player. Let him block,
then untap him for his troubles. There is some hidden power here,
especially if the person had to use a Wake to block, now you’ve left
him untapped for his predator.
Kraken’s Kiss
Combat
Vic
1 blood
Text: Strike: strength+1 ranged damage. If this striking vampire takes
more than 3 damage this combat he or she goes to torpor.
(S) As Above, with an optional press, only usable to continue combat,
and once each round for the remainder of this combat, this vampire may
strike to steal two blood at close or long range.
Artist: Drew Tucker
---
Strike strength +1 ranged, hmmm…lots of Horrid Forms, Maneuver, and
bam! Plus just the fact your head is now a giant tentacle, should be
more than enough fun for one evening. Again in superior it works like
an old fashioned Theft of Vitae. Just don’t take more than 3 damage or
another vamp will be having squid for dinner.
Terrence
Tzimisce
Capacity: 4
Inf: Ani, Aus, Vic
Text: Sabbat
Artist: William O’Connor
---
A new vamp! Isn’t it nice to finally have a quality 4 cap with all 3 in-
clan disciplines? Now if there were only a 3 cap with superior
animalism or vicissitude, the world would be right.

November Birthdays
Happy Birthday Bram Stoker, Bram turns 153 on November 8th and I turn
another year older as well. Without Bram’s novel Dracula, there may
never have been V:TES. You can read Dracula online:

Deck Ideas
This month we'll focus on the Little Tailor of Prague. Basically look
how cheap things are now, guardian ghouls free, revenants free,
warghouls cost 1 less. The new deck ideas abound. If it’s an
intercept deck the Little Tailor, Heidelburg Castle Germany and plenty
of revenants would be a cheap source for intercept with a minimal use
of card slots. Another idea could be lots guardian ghouls and lots of
computer hacking. And finally the warghoul deck gets a little cheaper
to play.
Hopefully once I’ve had a chance to really digest the new set I’ll have
a nice deck for the next newsletter.

The October Contest winner
In the first contest ever hosted by this newsletter we actually had a
winner. Kudos to Matthew Heslin for correctly answering all five
questions.
Q1.) Lambach appears to be wearing a shirt with something written on
it, what does the shirt say?
A1.) Brooklyn Casket Company
Q2.) How many actions does it typically take to bring a warghoul into
play?
A2.) 2 total, one for the Ally or Retainer and one for the warghoul.
Q3.) What is the definition of vicissitude?
A3.) Change
Q4.) What is the Little Tailor of Prague's nickname?
A4.) The Butcher of Prague
Q5.) What were the first names of every member of the Sex Pistols?
(Hey, it's my contest.)
A5.) John, John, Paul, Steve, and Glen (note: There was also a Warwick
but the band wasn't the Sex Pistols yet.)

Hm. Just an opinion here, but this vamp:
Small-Yappy-Dog
Gangrel
Capacity: 3
Sup: ANI
Text: The controller of Small-Yappy-Dog must bark twice when this
vampire takes an action.
...who can Bum's Rush you, play Trap, Song of Serenity, and Carrion
Crows, does not need to exist. =) If necessary it can also play Aid
from Bats to get away from people wanting to beat it up, or to keep
the Trap going to kill more than just a 9-cap, or for those people who
Dodge.
Note that all these cards are free. This would be kinda bad. =)

Excellent! I'm picturing the same... lots of Horrid Form and Trap,
then throw down the Kiss. The Horrid Forms should provide enough
damage prevention that your total damage taken throughout combat never
exceeds 3. Steal blood until you're at capacity, then slam them for 6
with the Horrid Form damage. Maybe even throw in Body Arsenal. With
PoM in effect, you've maybe paid 1 blood for the Body Arsenal. If they
try to get out of it, we now have Telepathic Tracking. Oh my, the
Tzimisce just turned really nasty.

> Maybe even throw in Body Arsenal.
No need for Body Arsenal, check out Chiropteran Marauder, the best
utility card in the set. CM was featured in the Sabbat Preview.
Chiropteran Marauder
Combat
Vic
Text: Maneuver
(S) This vampire can pay one blood to make the damage from his or her
hand strikes aggrevated for the current round.

So it's better to have a 3 cap, like Gideon Fontaine with PRE?

Still one S:CE kills even the best laid plans.

Bad as in good? ;-]

True. I just like the idea of using Body Arsenal when it used to be so
expensive and now they might be played for free. Ahh whimsy.

Gideon bleeds at 0 stealth and takes no more than +1 stealth actions.
Anyone with a ready 2-cap and a Rumor Mill can ruin his day if they so
choose. =) Sure, he can make himself a Prince, and he can call all
kinds of votes, but it's very easy to get in his way.
Small-Yappy-Dog *wants* you to get in his way.

True, but consider the other alternative: Raven Spy, Aid from Bats,
Cat's Guidance after combat. All +1 stealth actions nearby now must
gain Small-Yappy-Dog's permission before going off, or extra stealth
must be generated. ANI is already a good defense and a good offense -
I don't think sliding it more towards the weenies would be good. :)
As it is now, you need either skill cards or Bear Paw to set up an ANI
wall. :)

Bad as in, probably excessively effective. :)

(boggle) I read this like four times. Huh? :)
But he's still out there and he's still pretty damn powerful.

What's wrong with one small-yappy-dog?

Ok, how about just a 4 cap with ANI? Still a 3 cap would be nice, just
for the sure thrill of it. May not be the best for the game, but it'd
be fun to have one in the Tzimisce Clan of course.

Should've have been Spay-er of Atlanta. Though now that you mention it
you could be James Spader's stunt double. =)
Regards,
I've loved BA in the past, but CM has so much more utility now.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean we have to COMPOUND the mistake by making
more high-powered little guys. That sort of thinking gave us Mustafa
Rahman, Ohanna, and Samson. OUCH! Rather see the game go towards the
big vamps. :)

a 4-cap with ANI/vic or ANI/for or ANI/chi would be still a teensy bit
small for my tastes, but it's getting better. =)

!#*$&!#. OK, I get it now, but now I have to go search the web and
find out who James Spader is. ARGH. I don't like you anymore.
"I am Kicker-of-Small-Yappy-Dogs. I hunt the references in the pale

I like big vamps, but I also enjoy a good supporting cast member here
and there. I do play Tzimisce and awful lot so I'm not affraid to spend
some pool for a big monster. =)

James Spader has been in all kinds of films, recently he was in
Supernova. But ones I remember him from are, White Palace, Sex Lies and
Video Tape, Less Than Zero. The list goes on.
Stargate. Most recently (even more recently than Supernova) he was in The
Watcher, with Keanu Reeves. Whee. My girlfriend, for unknown reasons, has a
James Spader obsession...and this reminds me that I need to watch and return
Supernova today.
