the ritual to be found from page t75 to 223 inclusive.

The examiner, taking the visiting brother by the hand, as in ordinary
hand-shaking, the following dialogue takes place, and must be literally in
accordance with the prescribed formula, as this is strictly and purely the most
essential part of Freemasonry.

Examiner: (taking visitor by the hand): "I hail."

Visitor: "I conceal."

Ex.: "What do you conceal?"

Vis.: "All the secrets of Masons in Masonry to which this (presses the top of
his thumb hard against the first knuckle near the hand) token alludes."

Ex.: "What is this?" (pressing with his thumb the first knuckle of visitor's
hand).

Vis.: "The grip of an Entered Apprentice Mason."

Ex.: "Has it a name?"

Vis.: "It has."

Ex.: "Will you give it to me?"

Vis.: "I did not so receive it neither will I so impart it."

Ex.: "How will you dispose of it?"

Vis.: "I will letter and halve it with you."

Ex.: "Letter and begin."

Vis.: "You begin."

Ex.: "Nay, you must begin."

Vis.: "A,"

Vis.: "Az."

Ex.: "B."

Vis.: "0."

Ex.: "Bo."

Vis.: "Boaz."

Ex.: "What does it denote?"

Vis.: "Strength."

Ex.: "How is it represented?"

Vis.: "By the left-hand pillar at the entrance of the porch of King Solomon's
Temple."

Ex.: "Will you be off or from? ". (Still holding the other's hand.)

Vis.: "From."

Ex.: "From what to what?"

Vis.: "From the grip of an Entered Apprentice to the pass-grip of a Fellow
Craft."

Ex.: "Pass."

The visitor moves his thumb from the first knuckle joint to the space between
the first and second knuckles; the examiner then moves his thumb the same part
of the visitor's hand.

Ex. (pressing his thumb): "What is this?"

Vis. (returning the pressure): "The pass-grip of a Fellow Craft."

Ex.: "Has it a name?"

Vis.: "it has."

Ex.: "Will you give it to me?"

Vis.: "I did not so receive it, neither will I so impart it."

Ex.: "How will you dispose of it?"

Vis.: "Syllable it with you"

Ex.: "Syllable it and begin."

Vis.: "No, you begin."

Ex.: "You must begin."

Vis.: "Bo."

Ex.: "Shib."

VIS.: "Leth."

Ex.: "Shibbo."

VIS.: "Shibboleth."

Ex.: "What does it denote?"

Vis.: "Plenty."

Ex.: "How is it presented?"

Vis.: "By a sheaf of wheat suspended near a waterfall."

Ex.: "Will you be off or from.?"

Vis.: "From."

Ex.: " From What to what?"

Vis.: "From the pass-grip of a Fellow Craft to the real grip of the same."

Ew.: "Pass."

The visitor now moves his thumb to the second knuckle, the examiner also doing
the same.

Ex.: "What is this (pressing hard on the knuckle)?"

Vis.: "The real grip of a Fellow Craft."

Ex.: "Has it a name?"

Vis. "it has."

Ex.: "Will you give it to be?"

Vis.: "I did not so receive it, neither will I so impart it."

Ex.: "How will you dispose of it?"

Vis.: "I will letter and syllable it with you."

Ex.: "Letter it and begin."

Vis.: "No, you begin."

Ex.: "You must begin."

Vis.: "A."

Ex. : "J."

Vis.: "C."

Ex.: "H."

Vis.: "I."

Ex.: "N."

Vis.: "Ja."

Ex.: "Chin."

Vis.: "Jachin."

Ex.: "What does it denote?"

Fis. : "Establishment."

Ex.: "How is it represented?"

Vis.: "By the right-hand pillar at the porch of King Solomon's temple."

Ex.: "Will you be off or from (still holding the hand) ?"

Vis.: "From."

Ex.: "From what to what ?"

Vis.: "From the real grip of a Fellow Craft to the pass-grip of a Master
Mason."

Ex. "Pass."

The visitor now moves his thumb to the space between the second and third
knuckles, the examiner also moving his.

Ex. (Pressing his thumb as before): "What is this ?"

Vis.: "The pass-grip of a Master Mason."

Ex.: "Has this a name?"

Vis.: "It has."

Ex.: "Will you give it to me ?"

Vis.: "I did not so receive it, neither will I so impart it."

Ex.: "How will you dispose of it?"

Vis.: "I will syllable it with you."

Ex.: "Syllable it and begin."

Vis.: "No, you begin."

Ex.: "You must begin."

Vis.: "Bal."

.Ex.:. "Tu."

Vis.: "Cain."

Ex.: "Tubal."

Vis.: "Tubal-Cain."

Ex.: "Will you be off or from?"

Vis.: "From."

Ex.: "From what to what?"

Vis.: "From the pass-grip of a Master Mason to the real grip of the same."

Ex.: "Pass."

The visitor here looses his grip of the examiner's knuckles and again catching
his right hand very firmly he presses the tops of his fingers hard against the
other's wrist where it joins the hand, the thumbs of both being interlocked and
pressing tightly against the hand, the fingers of each also being somewhat
apart.

Ex.: "What is this (grasping the other's hand very strongly) ?"

Vis.: "The strong grip of a Master Mason or Lion's Paw."

Ex.: "Has this a name?"

Vis.: "It has."

Ex.: "Will you give it to me?"

Vis.: "I will if you place yourself in a proper position."

Ex.: "What is that proper position?"

Vis.: "The five points of fellowship."

Ex.: "Which are the five points of fellowship?"

Vis.: "Foot to foot, knee to knee, breast to breast, hand to back, cheek to
cheek, or mouth to ear."

As the visitor mentions each 'point he places himself as indicated, his right
foot against the other's right foot, his right knee against his knee, his right
breast against his, the left hand of each on the other's back and the visitor's
mouth to the examiner's ear and in this position, still holding by the grip, the
grand omnific word is mutually whispered as follows, and is the only position in
which it can be given.

Vis.: "Mah."

Ex.: "Hah"

Vis.: "Bone"

This ends the examination.

The foolish and ignorant anti who produced this is in error. A due examination
includes more than grips and words. You must walk the Tilers sword and pass
HIS examination.

As you have so denoted, many of the secrets of Masonry have been divulged,
therefore the examinations are more stringent, being necessary to weed out
those unworthy professing to be Masons.

May the GAOTU exact due retribution upon your soul for divulging Masonic
information in such a manner, and for the sole purpose of being mean spirited.

May you find yourself paying due penance in the afterlife, as one unworthy to
enter the gates of Heaven.

May your inability to hold your tongue leave you without one, where it shall be
buried in the sands of the sea, between low and high tides--an unholy place
preventing future repentance and entrance into heaven.

May your heart be eaten by buzzards, and other predatory birds. May the
remainder of your viscera be taken and burned and scattered over vast
distances.

Such is the holy and noble curse I may place upon you. May your nightmares
come true.

I'm not sure what "shocking secret" you think you're revealing, but this,
and virtually every other "secret" of Freemasonry has been available in
public reference libraries for years ...

Really? They DO have some strange things there in Virginia, don't they? <shrug>

Bro. Russo: while your perceptions of what happens may be correct for you, I'd
suggest that they aren't universal in Freemasonry. I've visited more lodges than
you've attended lodge meetings, I suspect, and very very few had any real
investigation. They relied instead upon my clear understanding of protocol,
procedure, and behavior within the lodge building.

A friend - a PSGW - was telling me that he recently went to visit a Prince Hall
Lodge he had learned of in a nearby city. He appeared at the door and asked if he
might visit. The Master welcomed him into the lodge room and began showing him
around and talking about the various features of their lodge. My friend asked
delicately if they wanted to examine him before the meeting began. The Master
replied, "If you're here, you belong here." and my friend was accorded a seat of
honor on the right of the Master for the evening.

So you see, not everyone does things with such fundamental vigor as you propound
yet we all arrive at the same place with fraternity and fellowship.

Oh, come on! PLEASE get off your high horse. There's no need of wishing evil on
anyone for ANYTHING as foolish as this. Had the individual threatened lives or
done evil deeds, I'd certainly understand your outburst but for cryin' out loud:
he wrote a bunch of stuff that the rest of us laughed at.

Fanaticism - on EITHER side of the equation - is unsupportable. I write this
publicly rather than privately to assure those who might be lurking that your
casting of spells or threatening of a horrid afterlife is FAR from that which
other Masons think.

If that's the worst that person has done in his life, I hardly think that he
merits such a horrid fate, do you? I almost thought I was reading the words of an
Ayatollah rather than a Mason. PLEASE, Brother: circumspection!!!!!

Sheesh: if he got that, one wonders what *I'll* get!!!

Come on, Jason: LIGHTEN UP!!!!! Anti-Masons are some of our best recruiting
tools. I get messages every single day to that effect. We see at least one
posting here every week to that effect. Why go all ballistic because somebody
printed something they wrote from a book they found at the super market checkout
stand?

Ya, so! You may be able to talk some of the talk (not all of right) but can
you walk the walk!?

As to examination of a visitor, in Calif. we have a specific test oath and
more importantly, we ask to see their paid-up dues card.

I have heard that in some jurisdictions, they require a letter of
introduction from the visiting brother's GL secretary.

Well, now... in to the kill-file with you!

I've undergone an interesting array of exams while visiting in
the US. In many cases, examiners didn't know what to ask me because
our ritual is quite different in many places.

> You must walk the Tilers sword and pass HIS examination.

Now that's news. I thought that was only done in Prince Hall Lodges.
I've never heard of it being done anywhere else. Certainly no
Lodges in my jurisdiction have anything like it.

With all due respect, and idealism concerning the theft of that which is not
honorable derived set aside, what is the point of this? Anyone can get a
hold of Duncan's Ritual, repeating it out means absolutely nothing.

It is the heart, and it's attentions to it's various obligations, and not
the ritual, that makes one a Mason. It is the obligations, and not any real
secrecy, that prevents Masons from confirming or denying any profane's idea
of what is within the ritual. Think about that some time. Completing an act,
even though the objective is impossible to attain, simply because it is
right. You might learn something there.

In any case, I wish you well, and I do hope that some day, you will see the
silliness that has been paraded here, in the revelation of such 'secrets.'

Sincerely,

We've been down this road before. These things are what make a GOOD
Mason.

Really? I have no qualms about denying what's not in the ritual.
Something about the principle of "truth" we are to propound. I am
simply bound not to reveal the secrets .. certain signs, tokens and
words as defined by the ceremonies I underwent.

Or attempting to complete the act. Such is the life-long journey that
we undertake as Freemasons.

I don't know from what ritual you are supposed to be quoting. It
doesn't coincide with anything I learned. The grips do not have names.
Gripping a mason's hand with the grips as you have described them
would not gain you admission to any lodge to which I have been
admitted neither would the words. Sorry you lose.

One of the requirements to become a Mason is to have good moral
character. The fact that you have posted this message using a scammers
email address is not a good sign. To receive the degrees of Masonry you
must be elected by a unanimous ballot. Posting using a criminal address
would be a good Masonic reason to veto your admission.

I pray for your reformation.
