Hi,
Does anyone know whether or not Emacs21 has ClearType font support? I
had posted this problem sometime back but did not receive any
response. Now I have some more details.

Specifically, font-locking seems to be having a problem rendering
ClearType fonts. My cursor-type is at the default setting. If I am in
a buffer, say with C++ code that has font-lock turned on, whenever I
scroll up/down past the lines or forward/backward on the lines with
font-locking, the cursor seems to be leaving a trail of its left and
right edges. Of course, this can be cleared up by running the recenter
command (C-l). It is kind of distracting having to do this so
frequently just to clear up the screen. In addition to the scrolling,
the display problem also surfaces when typing anything that would
probably get font-locked.

Any help on this matter is appreciated.

Thanx,
Seethu

Hi,

Thanks for the report. Since Microsoft do not seem to be making public
what changes they had to make to their own products to fix this (early
betas of Windows XP had reports of the same sorts of display problem
with all applications, so I assume they have "fixed" it by changing
an MFC library or something), there is not a lot we can do.

I recommend disabling this "feature". If you really need it, libXft
offers the same functionality on GNU and other unix-like systems.
