CBS Coverage of Baseball

I think that it's time to boycott CBS for the following reasons:
1) Terrible coverage of the All-Star game, especially the rain
delay. Where were the baseball footages? What was that 911
crap? WGN would have done a better job.
2) Jack Buck puts me asleep.
3) Coverage of the 'game of the week' has been terrible. You could
count on NBC having one every week from the beginning of the
season. CBS had a couple to start, and then it was golf on
Saturdays up until a couple of weeks ago or so.
[Feel free to add more reasons why CBS should be boycotted.]
The highlight of the All-Star game coverage, last night, was the
seventh inning stretch with Harry Caray, as far as I'm concerned.

of the final out in the top of the inning. I kept yelling at the screen for
them to switch to Harry. Truly awful job.
I also agree that those CBS promos were nauseating.

Yeah, you could count on NBC having one game a week. Usually one
NL game. A game that would involve either the Mets, the Cubs, or
the Dodgers. I feel sorry for anyone without cable now, though, 'cause
CBS is horrible. They don't have as many games, but they still focus
on the "big names".
ESPN covers LOTS of games *and* LOTS of teams. Too bad they have such bad
announcing teams (who put a Vitale-clone in baseball :-).

I will.
There is no more 'game of the week'. I think the original contract was
for CBS to cover 6 regular-season games. Its obvious (to me at least) that
CBS only wanted baseball to bolster its other programming and to hurt
NBC and ABC. CBS effectively removed competition for its NBA saturday
playoff games by keeping baseball off the air during that time period.
They only want the all-star game and the playoffs as a lead in to their
fall schedule. Did you notice all those obnoxious fall lineup promos during
the all-star game? disgusting. (esp. the part with Tommy Lasorda dancing
around).

I never thought I'd say it, but you're probably right.
Actually, it's clear that CBS couldn't care less about covering the actual
sport. But I think you have to put some blame on baseball also, for
allowing CBS to pay the money and then do whatever they want.
