No, because in The Book the "walk" is a statistic kept only for
pitchers, just as the "error" is a statistic kept only for fielders.
The batter isn't given any credit for reaching base on either one.
This view explains a lot of the silly "swing at anything" opinions.

Yup. Through the entire NLCS, I have found myself being more frustrated
with the calling of the game, than entertained with the play. In game 4,
David Justice had an errand throw to 3rd. Of course, we were reminded
of it oh say 15-20 times. It seemed like they were trying to pull a
"senate on Thomas" on Justice.
But this is just one isolated incident. Those @#$%&*!! boneheads at CBS
have the worst announcing crews in the world. Why do they still have the
contract (don't worry, I know why)? I remember in the good ole' days when
I could turn on the boob tube at 1:30 every Saturday in the summer and
find a good baseball game on. But CBS must be a jack of all trades and
show gymnastics, tennis, golf, marbles, recursive 15-puzzle solutions :-),
and whatever other stupid things you could think of.
Oh well, I suppose I won't be happy until I inherit Ted Turner's assets
and run my own networks (yeah, right). If worst comes to worst, I will
turn off the volume and call my own game.

I thought it was particularly funny that Shawon Dunston was in the
list of "Hardest to Walk" amongst all these excellent contact hitters.

All that I can say about CBS is this, whenever a games comes up on TV that
is not announced by my team's official announcers, I turn off the sound and
turn UP the radio. It works great! ( Too bad I'm at college in Peoria now, and
the couple of second delay can be a little messy. "And He's OUT!", while the
balls about three feet away...)

The SS made a very good play deep in the hole and McCarver says
"NOBODY else would have made that play" I can count about 5 that
do all the time!
These guy are pitifull, where are Jon Miller and Jim Palmer when you
need them, or at least John Lowenstein for comic relief.
Lowenstein said after they showed a "healthy" looking girl in the stands:
"Now there's 2 reasons to come to the ballpark!"
I bet they got some calls about that one.
