I have the stranges thing in explorer 6. I can't open more than one
window. This include "file-new-window" as well as right-clicking a
link and choosing "open in new window" and ofcourse if a link has a
target to open in a new window. In all cases a new window opens but
it is always empty. I tried reinstalling, going back to an older
version, changing options, repairring. Nothing seems to work. I am
desprate. Any ideas ?!!

Thanks

C.H.

Usually this fixes it:

Start - Run (type each line below separately, then press OK)

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

Note: you should see a brief message after each entry.
Reboot and test IE - New Window, repost with your results.

You may want to check these (default) Registry entries vs. yours
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew]
@="&Open"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew\command]
@="\"E:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" %1"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew\ddeexec]
@="\"%1\",,-1,0,,,,"
"NoActivateHandler"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew\ddeexec\Application]
@="IExplore"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew\ddeexec\IfExec]
@="*"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew\ddeexec\Topic]
@="WWW_OpenURLNewWindow"

I have found an answer! At least for me.

I replaced my oleaut32.dll (ver 3.50.5014.0) with an older version
(2.40.4275) from the command line. You have to do it without Windows
running.

I'll send the older version by email if anyone wants it.
