The well known bug in which the current officer of a squad continually
repeats " n IS DOWN " has been present ever since version 1.00.

The usual workaround is to 'shoot' the offending leader. This isn't
particullarly viable in your usual multiplayer co-op, however.

Are we doomed to be continually harrased with this looping radio sound - or
are BIS finally going to do something about it? They haven't fixed it in ANY
patch to date yet.

Place your bets now.

Not really.

The FAQ says:

One OFP player found a solution that worked for him. Select the dead
soldier's corresponding FUNCTION key (for example, F2 for soldier number 2),
select STATUS (option 5) from the COMMAND MENU and then select IS DOWN
(option 8). This should put a halt to the repeating messages.

However, I know it to be that the "Officer" (Feesh: The well known bug in

which the current officer of a squad continually repeats " n IS DOWN " has

been present ever since version 1.00.) is the one that is doing the
repeating. Not always the case - but I find that it is the most common -
that the Officer is the one repeating.

How do you select the officer and register him as "IS DOWN"? Difficult one,
since others can't select the dead soldier - only his corresponding
officer - and getting people to co-operate in multiplayer is one helluva
ordeal.

Borne in mind, and will otherwise let you know if it works. Or more likely,
if it doesn't.
