Hello,

I need some new glasses and I am looking for some advice on the lenses
I should get.

My prescription is

-2.50 -0.50 10
-3.50 -0.75 20

Was considering High index (1.6) aspheric lenses.

I believe the optician I am going to go to has Zeiss and Nikon lenses
available are these any good?

I apologise if this is a FAQ.

Many thanks for your time.

Both lenses you mentioned are excellent. Pentax and Silor are also
very good. If the frames you choose are small, it may be prudent to
get a Spectralite lens by Silor. Although it is not quite as
thin,(lower index) the vision will be clearer and the thickness
difference will be minmal. The higher the index of the lens, the lower
the ABBE value, which results in chromatic abberation. ( an unwanted
color dispersion)
With any aspheric high index lens, make sure to choose a frame in
which your eyes center properly, and be sure that the optician takes a
vertical height measurement as well.

Both designs are pretty good, BUT in the other post it was mentioned getting
the spectralite from Silor, nope Spectralite is a SOLA product not Silor. Silor
has Ormex and Thin&lite.
With your RX just about any of the mid to high index lens will work as well
as any of the others and with your RX you would not gain much by going to a
high index unless you want a fairly larger frame.
One thing though if you are going with an aspherical design you must
insist on being fit in a mono pupilary distance as well as having the OC's fit.
With an aspherical design you have a sweet spot and as your eye crosses
the merridians of the lens you get power changes and axis changes. PROPER
fitting is very important if you want the maximum performence of the design.
I would go in with a list and request a finished SV version (comes pre
molded with your power from the factory) and if you are stuck on the aspherical
design just take the least expensive version. Your RX does not require anything
special.
A good list would be the Ormex from Silor, Spectralite from SOLA, the two
you listed (which will be more expensive being a higher index) Trilogy from
Younger..optically speaking the spectralite has the highest abbe (ab-bee) value
out of all of these. That is the number that refers to how the lens breaks
light down in the spectrum.. the lower the abbe value the more rainbows in the
periphrel...
