I was curious if anyone here had any dealings with the Robins Agency? They
claim to work with the 'big 7' in New York; but, when I looked at their
clients' list of works, the publishers were not listed. They offer an
editorial service, which might be on the up and up at $6 a page. I didn't
think agents were in the business of editing, but I am just now trying to
get published myself. Any responses are appreciated.

Any agency that operates an editing service is not legitimate.

Legitimate agents/agencies make money by selling books to publishers.
They DO NOT offer editorial services.

Writer Beware has had numerous complaints from authors about the Robins Agency.

Cris Robins has NO verified sales to advance and royalty paying publishers.

They are charging huge fees at this point, and conducting all business via
telephone...presumably to avoid leaving a paper trail.

What does this tell you?

Ann - you mean they're getting their payments via the phone? Nothing
by postal mail? That is sneaky as hell.

Jayne, I presume they're still cashing writers' checks (that's what they're
best at) but all evaluations, come-ons, solicitations, etc, are all done by
Cris Robins and her staff calling authors on the phone.
