Right After Trek...game shows...gotta love em.

I've been racking my brain, ever since I saw PYL on CBS & later on USA,
that there was another version, on ABC with a different name, and the
board opened up like a book.

I thought I saw someone mention it as Second Chance.
Is there anyone with either a tape of it, or can give me a rundown of how
it was played, compared to PYL?

Thanks!
:-) Alan

The basics of the game were the same, but the particulars were definitely
different. Here are the major differences:

There were three questions per round, not four. On each question, rather
than the PYL buzz-in/multiple-choice format, each contestant would first
write an answer they believed was correct. Then the multiple-choice
answers were read, and contestants who wished could take a "second chance"
by answering again (their first answer was no longer valid). A correct
first answer earned 3 spins, while a correct second chance answer earned
1 spin. It was thus possible for all three contestants to earn 9 spins per
question, for a total of 27 spins per round, as opposed to the 5 spins per
question, 20 total that PYL allowed.

In the money rounds, the board did not flash amounts in each space; rather,
the spaces stayed the same while the light bounced around. There were money
spaces, prize spaces (denoted by a wrapped package; the prize was revealed
when hit), and devils (not whammies). There were no special spaces like
"advance two spaces" or "pick a corner." Based on the episode I've seen,
apparently order of play in *both* rounds (not just round one) was based on
spins earned. Other than that, basic game play was the same.

On a related note, as I type this I notice that they are using a PYL-like
game to determine who is playing for the car tonight on "Sabado Gigante;"
earlier they were playing a Spanish version of what looked like "Family
Secrets." Interesting.
