Q: How's the sound quality?

Everyone who has heard the Laser Turntable's output in Japan has
said that it is infinitely close to the original sound recorded on
Master Tape.

Q: Why so expensive?

Because the cost of production is high. Mass-produced digital
electronics and mass-sales are the means to market a cheap product.
Our Laser Turntable is totally different from this industry trend in
the following ways:
1. No critical components are "off the shelf." The high performance
levels required (which are the same as for military class devices)
mandate the use of custom orders for parts.
2. Laser Pick-up System and Final Assembly require careful,
hand-crafting procedures to ensure the quality of the analog
product.

Those are some of the reasons the LT is priced higher than a
conventional CD player.

Q: What kinds of records can be played on the Laser Turntable?

It will play any Black colored records sizes 7, 10 and 12 inches.

Q: How do scratches affect the system?

Small scratches have little or no effect on the system. Large
scratches are picked up as a momentary click. The system should play
through most damaged or scratched vinyl.

Q: Is record cleaning important when using the Laser Turntable?

Yes. Record cleaning is important to minimize extra noise. That's
why we have an excellent Vacuum Cleaner: The VPI Record Cleaner
(made in USA).

Q: Is the Laser Turntable digital?

No. Because the record grooves are analog, the purest music is
maintained by keeping the signal analog throughout the system. There
is no need for digital conversion.

Q: How are worn records played by the Laser Turntable?

The optical data extraction method senses from a different part of
the record groove than a mechanical stylus. Therefore, the area of
the groove damaged by the stylus will be ignored, or minimized,
essentially allowing damaged records to be revitalized.

Q: How does the Laser Turntable deal with warped records?

The Laser Turntable has a sophisticated high servo system which
keeps the distance between the optics and the record constant. Warps
or thickness variations in the records are tracked out so they do
not influence the music quality. However, the system may have
trouble playing badly warped records (more than £ 2-3mm).

Q: Can cracked records be played by the Laser Turntable?

Yes, if they are precisely taped together with clear tape.

Q: Where can I hear the quality of the Laser Turntable?

You can hear some of the quality through these sound samples
recorded from original vinyl onto DAT, then digitized for the
Internet:
[INLINE] Sample #1 (AU format, 120K)
[INLINE] Sample #2 (AU format, 120K)

We have just started looking for dealers in the USA, but we haven't
found any yet.

If you know of and dealers who would be interested please contact
ELP (e...@uspan.com) at (206) 281-1112.

We can also arrange for a personal in-home demonstration at your
home by a representative from our company in Japan. The cost is
$800, which will be applied to the purchase price.
