Hi Guys.
As anyone managed to get Microsoft's StarLancer to successful run on Windows XP Pro, without crashing to the desktop all the time ? When running through a mission, it will suddenly crash to the desktop, no warnings or error messages.

Have have included a a summary of my system at the end of this document.

I have tried forcing Windows 2000 compatibility mode to try and improve stablity - no success. I have tied all resolutions in the game itself (640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768) - No success.

My video (Nvidia MSI Geoforce4 Ti4600) and sound card (SBLive! Value) are the latest drivers. I cannot find a pacth anywhere - did Microsoft or Warthog ever release a patch ?

Hope someone can offer some advice.
Thanks

Try setting the game for 3D audio to "software" and not the Creative Labs
EAX. Besides tweaking your pagefile, what else have you done on the system.
I would suggest you let Windows XP handle the pagefile.

Thanks Chris.
I've have turned off Creastive Labs EAX and this has helped. I also run the
game @ 1152x864 and crashing is infrequent now (probably once/4hrs) whereas
before at 640x480 it crashed nearly every 15min - I can live with this.

Apart from the pagefile, I have do nothing else really to the system.

Thanks

Peter

We're getting there. Have you dropped the hardware acceleration down on the
Creative Labs card?

Hi Chris.
Yes - this seems to have fixed most of the crashing problem

Thanks for your help - greatly appreciated

Glad it worked, Peter. Remember, too, you can improve the performance
during gameplay by reducing the "eye candy" of Windows XP - don't run any
themes (if you are) in the game by right-clicking the link you use to launch
the game, selecting Properties, go to the Compatibility tab and select
Disable visual themes under Display settings, and making sure you've got all
your programs closed.
