Hi,

I just received my April 2003 OS-level MSDN shipment. The accompanying
letter says: "All DVDs in this shipment are red. You may archive all
previous red DVDs."

However, all the DVDs _I_ received are clearly GREEN. And no, I am NOT
red/green color blind :)

What gives...?

Regards,«

This looks like a typo on our end - sorry for the confusion. As is always
the case with the DVDs, you replace all of an existing color with the new
color you were shipped. So, go ahead and toss the old Red DVDs, and replace
them with the new ones.

Shoot, meant Green. That's what I get for trying to answer newsgroup posts
while on the phone.

I'm a little late to this one but here is my story. I have always had CD
Universal subscriptions. I just purchased a DVD subscription. MS sent me a
whole new case with a bunch of black, green, blue, gray, yellow and maybe
another color or two DVDs.

How do I know if I have everything (a complete set) and what to archive? Do
I go ahead and archive all red DVDs and replace with the green April DVDs?
What about all those other colors?

I tried to check the shipment index but it is pretty confusing. Thanks for
any guidance you can give me on this.

You won't know. The whole system makes no sense.

Andy,

It hasn't been clear to me how to handle the disks I receive every month.
But from what you're saying, the current set of any color should all have
the same month/year stamp .. correct?

And, I should only keep the most recent month/year release as the current
set in my binder??

So, at this point, of the following disks:
Blue #1219 Jan/02 "Developer Tools"
Blue #1745 Aug/02 "Platforms, Servers, Applications"
Blue #1969 Feb/03 "unlabeled, but appears to contain much of 1745"

... I should only keep #1969 .. right??

Is there a reference somewhere that could tell me what my binder should
contain, as of April/03 shipment, for my English Universal subscription, to
represent a current software suite for the developer?

Phil

I sincerely hope that the person who typed that letter does not have a
driver's license, or at the very least does not drive in an area where
traffic lights are common.

Go to:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/packinglist/default.asp

and select 'all current disks' for your subscription level.

Each month, we receive a Subscriptions Index CD. Does the new one replace
all of the previous ones? i.e. can I archive the March 2003 and previous
CD's because I have the April 2003 cd?
