install error

During install of the SDK(s), I get this error...
"Setup failed to configure the Platform Manager properly. The error code was 1. You will have to reconfigure it later. Press OK
to continue setup."
I continue. Then after setup completes, I try to run eVB and I get...
"Cannot initialize CE Platform Manager. Please check that eMbedded Visual Basic has been installed correctly."
If I try eVC, I get...
"Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ has discovered no CE platform SDK installed on the desktop.
Please install at least one CE platform SDK before launching Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++."
But, I HAVE installed SDKs. (THREE times!)
Any ideas???

FYI...
I got everything installed and working. BUT...
I first "uninstalled" everything related to WCE (including ActiveSync), rebooted, deleted all the files and registry entries
"uninstall" left behind and then re-installed. Now, all is right with the world!!!
