1) There are two dvorak keyboard layouts a) The one included in
windows xp, and b) the other one documented in several books.
The difference between these two are the locations of several
non-letter keys.
2) Here's a picture of MS's layout:

Here's one I believe is more suited for programmers:

3) the location of the '/', '[', ']', and '+' '-', in the other
layout is slightly more suited for one style.
4) This is a request for someone in the accessibility division to
spend 5 mins and add this version of dvorak to windows xp. It's a
suggestion that I believe would help. I can't say that many people
will benefit from this change, as dvorak use is minimal, and the
other dvorak setup, is just a fraction of this group.
5) There is one major problem that prevents users modding their
keyboard setup, and that is the Windows File Protection. As
kbddv.dll is protected, one can't hex edit the file easily to their
preference.
http://www.geocities.com/robm351/dvorak/ This page explains the issue.
Small request for an ergonomic issue.
Thanks,
b.
A Google search returned 81 pages on "Dvorak keyboard " most
looked like fluff pieces, but some surely are key mapping
program links and you can buy a keyboard with the Dvorak
layout ands switch as you wish.

1) window file protection makes it harder than it has to be. You
can't just modify the keyboard dll or hex edit it. The links on the
page I provided explains the situation.
2) buying new hardware for a software solution is wrong.
I am disappointed with Microsoft. It would not cost them much to include
similar utility in the OS.
