For those of you who have tried Accelerade...do you like it? Better than
other "on-the-bike" drinks like Cytomax?

I really like Endurox R/4 for recovery but haven't given Accelerade a try
since I have a huge can of Cyto I just opened! Thanks.

I use it now, after Cytomax started upsetting my stomach (which was
odd because I had been using it for 18 months). But Cytomax did work
for me when I used it...and Accelerade works the same for me. And you
can't leave Accelerade in the bottle for more the 12 hours....it
starts to smell pretty bad.

Steve:

Before you give up on that Cytomax can, you can try mixing it with
R4, or a high-protein
powder, or whatever.

The whole thing about Accelerade and R4 and Revenge is they have a bit of
protein in the mix. If you already have a kg or whatever of Cytomax sitting
there, all you need to do is find some mixable protein to add to it to
achieve the same effect.

But use it up fast or else it sets up like a block of cement.

I tried it for a month, but noticed no difference from using plain gatorade.

I found it to taste like sweet dishwater.
So I mixed it with Cytomax to kill the taste. Otherwise, notice not
difference.

I only use gatorade for training. the reason is that it is 4 times cheaper than
cytomax. Also it doesn't spoil in the bottle. All i do is put the bottles in
the fridge once I am done and reuse on the next ride. For additional carbo I
eat walmart brand granola bars. A box of 12 costs $1.75. this is cheaper than a
single powerbar and one granola has just as much carbo.

anyone can do an entire race on a combination of granola bars and gatorade and
get plenty of energy. If you need additional energy during the second part of a
training ride or race, take some expresso beans in your jersey pocket. Munch on
a few and wash down with gatorade. They'll give you the extra kick.

A lot of packaged granola bars contain partially hydrogenated
vegetable oil -- you should check the label to see if there are any.
I'm convinced those are bad for health.
