The latest news is that the team is planning on having a DIY Disco on
the Friday night, where you send a 20min CD of your favourite tracks,
sounds like fun. Check out

http://www.2002.bicon.org.uk/diydisco.html

for more info,

even if you can't make it, what would you put on a 20 min CD or
alternatively your favourite six tracks and by who.

Given that I'm in a bit of a nostaligic Indie mood, I'll start the ball
rolling and put the following down

Freak Scene - Dinosaur Jnr
Another Girl, another planet - The Only Ones
Debaser - Pixies
Why can't I touch it - Buzzcocks
Shot by both sides - Magazine
Change - Killing Joke

Laurence - showing his age

Loz <l.j.b...@city.ac.uk> sat in Dunfermline town, drinking the blood
red wine, and cried:
With you all the way as far as The Only Ones and Magazine go. (I want my
mobile phone to play the riff from 'Shot By Both Sides' but I don't
think it's advanced enough to be programmable).

Not sure it's exactly disco fare though.

My six, off the top of my head...

Only Ones, 'Another Girl Another Planet' (I know one of the committee
grooves largely to this song too)
David Bowie, 'Heroes' (only song I've ever got my boyfriend to dance
with me to)
Cortinas, 'Fascist Dictator' (now who's an aging punk?)
B Movie, 'Remembrance Day'
Madness, 'One Step Beyond'
Wonder Stuff, 'Eight Legged Groove Machine'

Anyone in London got CD burning facilities? I'm suddenly getting the
urge to submit this lot to the committee. (Actually I've only got one of
these on CD, the rest are tape or vinyl)

Sandra, perking up at the very thought of this track

Nokia. Very old one. Used to be astral alice's who gave it me because
she was fed up of me not having a mobile.

Well, it goes DUMMMM der DUM DUM DUMMMMM der DUM DUM DUMMMM der DUM DUM
DUMMMMMM...

(Ascending steadily, very fuzzy guitar. Best riff ever to come out of
punk rock).

I do have a CD burner around so I could make a copy of the Dance Floor
Clearer Mix and bring it over.

Lets see:
I won't dance - Celtic Frost
Dead Skin Mask - Slayer
Toxic Trace - Kreator
Stormblast - Dimmu Borgir
Dusk and her embrace - Cradle of Filth

From the mixes-for-other-purposes-than-dancing dept.:

Clannad, _Two Sisters_ (4'13)
Freda Payne, _Band of Gold_ (2'53)
Dion, _Runaround Sue_ (2'47)
Blondie, _X Offender_ (3'12)
Tom Lehrer, _I Hold Your Hand In Mine_ (1'27)
Tori Amos, _Past the Mission_ (4'06)
(Total: 18'38)

The theme should be fairly obvious, I think.

What is it about the Only Ones, they're the only ones in the list I've
ever heard of and I even have an LP(!) of Only Dragons Shine
somewhere....

I red that immediately after an AdamPost, and saw it as "you have found

Unfortunatley I won't be there, love to be though...

- First off would have to be Pearls Girl by Underworld (for some reason
something by them ends up in anything I mix, even if it's an ambient mix!).
Although Born Slippy might be better as *eveyone* know that one...
- The Tale of Mis Verginia Epitome by Coldcut, just because it freaks people
out!
- Original by Leftfield (possibly my favourite track of all time... possibly)
- Mysterons by Portishead
- At the River by Groove Armada
- A Mother (for your mind) by the Herbaliser

I know this is considerably more than 20 mins, but I think it would quite
nicely as a "comming down" mix, I'll try it tomorrow actually...

You even spell Laurence the same way I do! Almost everyone else I've ever met
spells it with a "w"!
