Hi,

I'm looking for a new P-III machine to run my Caldera 2.2. Does anybody
know if Caldera OL 2.2 support dual P-III processors?

Thanks,
Lit

My experience was that 2.2 did not want to install on my dual processor
computer (why? I don't know.) but Caldera OL 2.3 installed like it's
supposed to and detected my two cpu's and was configured running SMP on
first boot. Armand

It's not a question of the distribution, but the kernel itself, and the kernel
does support >1 processor.

You are right with Linux, but wrong with COL.

COL 2.2 uses kernel 2.2.5 and this one is not propper supporting SMP.
COL 2.3 instead uses kernel 2.2.10 and this one has SMP propper
implemented.
So COL 2.3 does, whereas COL 2.2 doesn't.

Klaus.

I've successfully installed 2.2 on both single and dual processor machines.
It is true that
2.2 only comes with a non-smp kernel, so that once you've installed it,
you have to recompile a kernel for SMP yourself. Maybe 2.3 has a precompiled
SMP kernel?

Yes.

And it just installed itself!
