Gatorade never worked for me other then to put a few electrolytes back in to
keep the current flowing. I still got cramps over long rides. Long rides for
me would be anything over 50 to 100 miles. Water is great for the first
couple of hours but then I needed fuel. I started using Cytomax back on
early late 80's. I used it for years. It seemed to be the only thing to
buffer the lactic acid, keep my legs free of cramps after a ride. I used to
prop my legs up to drain the lactic acid out on a motorized bed that raised
the legs at the rear of the bed. I tried a myriad of drinks, ultra this and
that. In fact one time I got some packs of this really expensive stuff that
claimed to be a complete liquid meal with all the electrolytes and buffers
in it, etc. I would freeze it and put into some custom water bottle covers
that I and another friend created with Thinsulate. After about 60 miles I
would pull that out and it sure tasted good and seemed to do the trick.
Tasted kind of like milkshakes.
I live in the Mountains near Yosemite National Park, so they are all hard
miles here.
Anyway, if you have any products you like that work well for lactic acid
buffers like Cytomax, or you prefer over Cytomax, let me know? I never liked
Power Bars unless I wanted to visit the dentist regularly.
thanks,
Bruce
I honest-to-god feel that Accelerade helps my late-race performance. I
tried it in several races this year and am a convert. It doesn't jack up my
stomach (even diluted Gatorade, etc., seem to), and I don't have to eat tons
of solid food in a race. I'm not sure if it's the protein (as advertised)
or what, but it works for me.

Of course people do. Duhhh......
It's a matter of taste Brucemeister.

I never got any details why.
Remember, that stuff made out of some kind of Indian maize, something like
that. I don't have an old can handy right now to be exact, but it seems to
work for me. IE [Lactic Acid Buffers]

I hate the taste of Cytomax, especially when it's warm. I prefer Extran.

1. Made me fart.
2. If the powder gets wet or is kept in a humid location it becomes a
cement-like solid that's hard to break up.
3. Sticky taste.
4. I'm not suscepible to cramps, which Cytomax really helps prevent
I prefer Gatorade diluted to ~80%

No, doesn't ring a bell. If it's a trick question then I took the bait.

I love the taste of cytomax in the morning. It tastes like...victory.

You answered your own question above... 'cause it tastes like shit... even
when you are riding.

Only combination of sugar and water and taste that works? There's
nothing else in it that matters.
