Hey everyone! Does anyone know why when you install this update it doesn't
seem to change anything? (ex. file versions in device manager) I also
noticed that if you force a manual install of the IDE drivers it no longer
shows Primary IDE channel, Secondary IDE channel, and SIS PCI IDE
controller.... Instead it shows: Primary BM Ultra DMA Channel, Secondary BM
Ultra DMA channel, and SIS Bus Master Ultra ATA Controller... Any Ideas as
to whats the difference, and which one is correct? It seems to function
either way, and with the Bus master setup it doesn't offer the choice of DMA
or PIO modes. I'm assuming that DMA is enabled automatically with the new
drivers. I haven't had any probs with the Bus Master drivers yet.

YOur correct on the IDE...and mine works perfectly..but I forgot to check
file dates and versions on the AGP VXDs......I downloaded them before
installing the MB...and used them the first time...rather than the supplied
ones.

Do you have to re-install the AGP drivers from SiS everytime after upgrading
the video drivers?(ex.23.11/27.20/etc.) And by the way, is the Bus Master
drivers correct or merely an option to the standard PCI drivers?

You dont have to re-install the AGP driver set everytime you upgrade
drivers. With Nividia based cards, my preference is to remove old drivers
before I install new ones rather than just install over the top of the old
one. The bus master drivers seem to be correct...but Im on 109M right now.
I picked up a few points on 3Dm2001 with the AGP driver change, but I got
over 100 points with the 27.20 drivers, before using RivaTune to tweak them.
Final results in the driver swap were (todays numbers) 151more points in
3DM2K...I posted them on Mad Onion since I always get grief about such
things.

Thanks Pablo.... I know it sounded kinda' lame, but this is the first
non-intel based board I have used.. The reason I asked is when initially
installing the supplied Asus drivers, It stated "make sure that your video
drivers are already installed". This prompted me to think that after
upgrading the vide drivers you neede to re-run the AGP driver... Again,
Thanks for clearing that up!!

Don't feel bad......I used Intel and then VIA chipsets forever....then
became obsessed with SIS chipsets. I ignored that message when it came
up...it just seemed wrong...and that proved to be correct from all
indications. I had alot of questions about the inf's that were in the ASUS
install disk, but ASUS chose not to address them when I questioned them. I
read alot of the developers info and other news from SIS's site, and I
browse alot. Alot of the stuff gets twisted in the translation to
english....ECS/Elite has listed their bios flashes backwards at least twice
on two of thier SIS based boards, just to name a one. ASUS had a bios flash
up for one hour lately....promptly removed it....but those of us with no
lives quickly grabbed it and suffered the consequences of too much time on
our hands....luckily it was recoverable, but sure screwed things up for a
few hours. I often blame what some would call hardware problems on "lost in
the translation" this in spite of the fact that I speak converstationally in
a few asian languages.
