This is the 4th time I am addressing this issue.

I have Windows 2003 Server. I am trying to sync a Palm Pilot to Terminal
Services.

I am told that you can do it with Windows 2003 Server. It is now known that
it is possible to do it with Windows 2003 Server.

I am told that HotSync/Palm Pilots DO WORK. YAY!! It is now known that it is
possible to do it with Palm Pilots.

My question (as it was always) is HOW do you do it? I have a W2k3 Server. I
turned on com port mapping. I installed the Hot Sync Software. I have a palm
pilot, I plugged it into my client computer. I connected to the Windows 2003
Terminal Server and I press the sync button, nothing happens. I have tried
the silly "net use" command (net use com1: \\client\com1:). I get system
error 67. Network Name cannot be found.

I've done searches on com port mapping and all I get are sites of people
using Windows 2000 and Citrix.

If someone could please direct me to a site, an ftp, an irc channel, or even
a book that can give me directions on the proper procedure on how to sync a
palm pilot through a client machine over to a Windows 2003 Server running
Terminal Services......I would be SOOOO Grateful. Seriously.

Thank you

Yes, I would like to see this issue cleared up as well. Did you
see my reply to your post last week? I'll repeat it here:

From the Microsofts Terminal Services FAQ at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/community/centers/termi
nal/terminal_faq.asp

<quote>
Q. Is there a way to get ActiveSync working through my Terminal
Server session?
A. No.
</quote>

I take this to mean that COM port mapping is supported in 2003,
but not ActiveSync.
As long as nobody posts the HOW-TO information of getting
ActiveSync to work, I put my money on the FAQ.

The COM port mapping itself is easy: you configure it on the
client in the Remote Desktop Client - Advanced options - Local
Resources - Serial ports (the names may differ slightly, I'm
translating from Swedish). You can override these user settings on
the server in Terminal Services Configuration - Connections - RDP-
Tcp - Client Settings - clear the checkbox for COM port mapping.

It works for God's sake. :-)
I installed AND tried this using Windows 2003 and Neoware Thin clients.
Worked great.
Make sure the CLIENT runs the latest RDP5.2 client.
Secondly run TSCC.MSC on the TS and on RDP-tcp, make sure you DID NOT
disable COM port redirection. Under security make sure users HAVE virtual
channels enabled for them.
Just install the latest PalmPilot software (I downloaded directly from their
website) on the TS and it will create an icon on the tray for all users.
Make sure the PalmPilot IS configured for COM1.

OK, Cláudio, thanks!
Since nobody had ever given any details, and the FAQ is very explicit in
telling us that it doesn't work, I felt this needed a *very positive*
confirmation.
But that's exactly what you have given us now :-)

Thank you Claudio. This is the 2nd time you've pulled through in answering a
Terminal Services question for me.

Thank you very much.
