Having a problem with Windows XP and Desknote's card reader UCR-61S2B. This
is an internal 6 in 1 card reader which connects to the internal usb socket.
I was told that XP would not be a problem but when clicked on "My Computer"
it shows the drives but when I insert a MMC or MS card into slot it doesn't
read. I downloaded the driver online just to make sure but still does not
work. Now when opening up XP a message comes up that it don't reconise the
Gigabite Ga8IRXP motherboard.I扉e read about that the firmware of the This
card reader is manufactured by ECS and its firmware is locked to work with
only certain mobos. I ran into same problem with MSI board. Even thought
pins match to USB header, the reader will only work on mobo it "recognizes"
from firmware.ECS makes another reader, UCR-61s, that is identical except
for the restrictive firmware. I愀 t posibble to change the firmware to
unlock my reader ?
