I have been a John Denver fan since I was a child. Even today I find some
comfort in his songs. But I have a question. The answer to which will not
affect reather I listen to John or not.
As you all may know Johnny Carson is now in reruns. I have heard that at
a concert John Denver asked all of the Jehvoah's Witnesses to stand and
leave, he would not play for them. The I heard that on the Tonight Show
with Johnny Carson, Johnny had JD on and asked him the above question, JD
was said to have answered he did, then JC asked him to stand and leave
the stage. Any of this true?

Gregory-
I've never heard that story. I do remember John guest hosting The Tonight
Show a week at a time. He did a terrific job! I used to tape it on my
little cassette recorder, the most advanced piece of equipment available
back then!

I remember John on a "Tonight Show." He sang an impressive redition of
"It's About Time." There was nothing out of line on this show!!!

I agree, that was the finest rendition that I've ever heard. Afterward,
the audience gave him a STANDING ovation for about two minutes.

Hi Terri,

Just like me, I used to catch his TV concerts on a tape recorder
particularly the first ever Don Kerschner (sp) rock concert (1972) at 12am
on Saturdays of which he was the first ever guest on that show. He played
Leaving On A Jet Plane with Mama Cass on backing vocals. It was
tremendous, that 12-string sounded heavenly!
