Discover card seemed to offer a good transfer balance - no finance deal when
I tried it. However they have been pretty pushy with telemarketing lately.
They seem to have more deals to add a monthly charge. On one occasion I
thought it was almost a trick to get one to agree to an offer which had to
be cancelled after written description was received (like the old book club
deals) rather than deciding whether to accept AFTER reading the material.

I have only had them for a couple of months but am beginning to wonder.
Anyone care to share an opinion on this card.

Yup, Discover Card has proven to me that they are not trustworthy. They
wrote the book on sleezy customer dealings. I received a replacement
platinum credit card from Discover a couple of months ago because they
said my current card was due to expire. Yeh! Right, my card was good
until 11/2004. When I called to activate the new card, Discover's
customer service representative gave me a very hard pressure sell on
various useless services before he would activate my new card. This was
telemarketing in reverse.

As soon as I humg up the phone with the Discover tele-bozo, I was so fed
up that I cut up my Discover card and never have any more dealings with
them. Since that time, all the automated bill payment setups that I had
with them have been transferred to a Visa card. Discover Card is scum of
the highest order, in my opinion.

In my opinion, the best way to deal with Discover Card is to cut it up
and never use it. If you want information on credit cards, take a look
at http://www.bankrate.com and take a look on the archives for this
newsgroup where you'll see lots of complaints about Discover sending out
bills with due dates that were impossible to meet and not crediting
payments until after they were due, then assessing overdue payment
charges.
