You asked for heros. You never said anything about sanity.

Marvel Knights gave Dr. Strange a shot a couple of years ago but it didn't
go over too well. I'm all for the idea of more supernatural titles but I
don't see too many people working regularly in comics that could do them
well.
Andy
Straczynski has been itching to do a Dr. Strange project for some time now;
even before his ASM run IIRC. Why it's never evolved into something I can
buy and read........I don't know. But his upcoming Squadron Supreme
MAXi-series tells me that if Marvel doesn't object to JMS tackling more of
the obscure characters.......that Dr. Strange project must be an
inevitability sooner or later...
As for a lack of supernatural titles..........the last big wave of them was
the Midnight Sons line (Ghost Rider, Nightstalkers, Blaze, etc), all of
which (except Ghost Rider) were axed during the mid-90's Marvel Implosion.
The Strange Tales line from circa 1998 never got off the ground and died
within a year (which stinks because most of those books were pretty decent).
Very few projects since have worked either - most notably, the 3 (yes, 3)
Blade series since the movies came out have all failed horribly.

I remember the Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme title. It started out
great. Then came the Infinity crossovers. The book never had time to
recover from a lame crossover story before then next one was up. I
left the book as a result and was never moved to go back.

Wait, it SS an ongoing series or a limited series? I saw the "i" but I
can't tell if that's an error. Besides, if the Eternals can get an
ongoing series I don't see why the SS can't. And it's long past time
Alias stopped being the only ongoing MAX title.

I was wrong, it seems; it *is* ongoing. (Good!) :)
