Does somebody grow John James roses. Tel me if you do not know them.
Were these roses registered and never available or some other thing?

Interesting question. I had never heard of him so I did a little poking around
in MR 10. It lists John James with an address at 2601 Joseph Street, Avon,
Ohio, 44011. The following roses are credited to him:
"Acadian","Ch (OGR)","dp","1986"
"Arctic Emerald","S","w","1982"
"Arctic Glow","S","rb","1982"
"Bonne Chere","S","rb","1985"
"Borealis","K (S)","w","1980"
"Cecilia","S","pb","1980"
"China Belle","HCh (OGR)","pb","1980"
"Coral Cascade","F","or","1980"
"Gyrene","S","mr","1987"
"Harriet Elizabeth","S","mp","1987"
"Lou-Celina","S","dr","1979"
"Maritime Heir","S","dp","1986"
"Meadow Ruby","S","mr","1978"
"Micki","HT","or","1982"
"Northlander","S","mp","1985"
"Ollie","HT","mr","1982"
"Paula","Gr","or","1980"
"Pink Hat","F","pb","1980"
"Prevue","S","w","1978"
"Promethean","S","rb","1985"
"Sanctus","K (S)","w","1978"
"Soeur Kristin","K (S)","my","1978"

"Venture","S","mp","1984"
"Wild Spirit","S","mr","1985"
"Winter King","S","dp","1985"
"Yellow Wings","S","my","1986"
I do not recall having ever heard of any of them. My curiosity is aroused.

John James died March 12 of this year. His son-in-law sent a copy of the
obituary to Peter Harris. According to Peter Harris he was experimenting with
radiation-induced mutations back in the 70s, and had quite a number of
registrations of shrub roses, some with pretty wide crosses.
