Jim Tressel. It's gotta be Tressel. It's gotta be.

I mean, look: The man is only 47 years old, but he has been a head
coach for 14 years. He is a born and raised Ohioan, with strong
connections in the high schools of northeast Ohio. He used to be an
assistant coach at Ohio State. He has led Youngstown State to four I-AA
national titles and six title games.

He's everything we've been saying we want in a head coach.

By contrast:

Pagac and Spielman both have a lot of heart and character, but no
head coaching experience.

Mason is Earle Bruce all over again.

If Geiger's first choice isn't Tressel, I'm going to be very, very
disappointed.

I couldn't agree more. It's Tressel or spend $2-3 mil on TH00PTH!!1! and
while I know the alums have that sort of cash, they could get Tressel at
much less $ per win (and he will win).

I've come to the same conclusion. The more I hear, the more certain I am.

I think Spielman could be a good coach, but who knows? However, he's
so intense that Woody Hayes in his prime would look mellow in
comparison.

I agree.

If you ever reach total enlightenment while you're drinking a beer, I
bet it makes beer shoot out your nose.

Speilman just left the NFL. How could he possibly head coach a team
like Ohio State?
He's from Massilon and the sentemental favorite (had his picture on a
wheaties box when he was in high school), but he hasn't worked in an
administrative capacity at that level. He needs to be a linebacker
coach for awhile then move up.

Big deal, Cooper "won." Won lots of 'em. Just not against the right
people.

This is not about making good sense. It's about making headlines.
tOSU has to demonstrate they're serious about "winning." That means
they need a name. Tressel is many things but he ain't a name. If they
hire him, the alums will shriek, "Youngstown WHO??!!"

Brian Bosworth is a name. He patrolled the sidelines all year with Bob
THTOOPTH so he's probably a genius. I think he's perfect.

He is a name in Ohio. The problem is he is not a disciple of Woody.
