We are in the process of testing Windows XP for deployment in our
environment. We have a mixture of NW 4.11 and Netware 5.x servers. We are
using Zenworks 3.2 to manage both Dynamic Local Users and Roaming Profiles.
My initial tests for roaming profiles failed. When the user would log in,
the Windows NT 5.1 Workstation Profile directory is created and the
NTUSER.DAT file is copied up. When the user would logout, and the machine
would disconnect from the network, then an error message dialoge box pops up
stating "Windows can not save your roaming profile. Possible network or
security access issues"
I checked the Users Home Profile directory and noticed that the NTUSER.DAT
file was updated, but nothing else. After several days of no luck, I called
Novell tech Support. One of the things the tech had me do was to change the
user's Home Directory from a NW 4.11 server to a Netware 5.1 server. The
roaming profiles worked just great! The tech went on to say that since
Novell no longer supports 4.11, he could not help me troubleshoot problem
further.
My problem is that most of our Admin sites who will get the XP depolyment
are still 4.11 and won't be upgraded for months.
Long story short.... Has anyone had success getting roaming profiles to work
with Netware 4.11 Home Directories?
