Hello all.
Yesterday I was watching a very short documentary on MTV
about the fight between Blur and Oasis. At a certain point,
the speaker said: "Blur also quoted Oasis in their song
COUNTRY HOUSE when they sang "morning glory etc etc"..."

Well, I was wondering how it could be possible that
Blur quoted Oasis if Gallaghers' album was released
on 2nd October 1995 and "The Great Escape" earlier...
I don't remember exactly when TGE was released but
I think it was around summer 1995. So, how could have
Blur included those words if Oasis' album wasn't
released yet??

Bye and let me know, please

Because it's an actual phrase regarding a cocaine hangover.

Its really actually a phrase concerning an erect member first thing in
the morning. Noel actually got the phrase when he phoned someone? up
and they answered "Whats the Story, Morning Glory ?"

They may have not quoted Oasis there, but in Blur's latest, there is a song
called Swamp Song. Sound familiar.... Well there is also a line that says
we'll live forever in the same song. I think that is just a little more than a
coincidence, or anything else. They sound like they are mocking Oasis, with
Damon's voice sounding almost like he is making fun of the greatest band on
earth. I could be wrong...

Someone called Noel up, as far as I remember it was some girl, however the
first thing she said was: "What's the Story Morning Glory"? . That's what I
call morning Glory.

~Hurry up and wait, but what's worth waiting for~?

I'm pretty sure that Blur quoted Oasis in country house, during that summer,
when the both singles were relased, I saw Blur live, and they had a Oasis logo
on the drummer's bass drum. Swamp Song might be one reference on the "13"
album, and another one could be "Coffee & Tv" as "Cigarettes & Alcohol", right?

No, it's the name of a plant grown in the tropical states which, when the
seeds are crushed, the remaining effluent liquid can be drained off and
used to form a hallucinogen similar to (but not the same as) D-lysergic
diethylamide (aka LSD). I believe it's class A.

Well, yeah, I think everyone knows it's a flower but it's also a phrase "What's
the story, Morning Glory?"......I think my grandmom said it to me once when I
got up at like noon......

"What's the story morning glory?" is an expression made popular by the musical
"Bye Bye Birdie"... in the song "Telephone Hour" they say "what's the story
morning glory, what's the tail, nightengale...did you hear about Hugo and Kim?"
That's where the guy who called Noel got it from.....Not to say that he is a
big fan of "Bye Bye Birdie" but the phrase did become popular (or might have
even been invented via) that musical..From what I understand, Noel didn't get
it from the flower....which is odd being that people use the seeds as a drug :)

Did I say that? No, I ment it as they might have just written C&T as an
'healthier' substitute for C&A.

its a coincedence - it doesn't mean anything and even if it is there on
purpose, in the song, then, what does it matter?

This argument sounds like a bunch of train enthusiasts arguing about the
shape of an air filter on the roof of a train.

Morning Glory does refer to a morning erection, though! I read it in
Cosmopolitan magazine many years ago, and when I heard the title of the
oasis album I pissed myself laughing.
Liam also said in the interview cd that came with the boxsets that "it's
when you wake up with a rather large hard one!"
So there you go, just putting in my two cents.

Liam was joking when he said that , I think
