I was fortunate to be at the first show of a 3 day run of Grateful Dead at
Red Rocks. These were 3 of the highest days of my life. We got a campsite
at Chief Hosa a day early, and the crazy busses from all over the southwest
surrounded us. They put up road signs at the intersections of the
"streets" - we were near the junction of "Shakedown Street" and "The Golden
Road". My wife and I met all sorts of colorful characters; traded art,
tickets, and other goodies. We were invited on board of several of the wild
busses - some of you remember the crazy busses on tour in 1985 - works of
art, some of them were, and we talked to true freaks deep into the night.
We heard the Grateful Dead play 3 days of excellent music between the huge
Red Rocks. We dosed and played and danced and expanded and laghed and
cried. I was given a very special gift by a member of the Hog Farm. We
stayed around for the "Trash Bash" and won great prizes and shared in the
communal breakfast.

Then we went out to the wilds of Colorado, soaked in hot springs, and let it
all sink in. This was the stuff that influenced me on so many levels, I am
still sorting it all out.

Check out that 2nd set from 9-7!!!!! Wowwwwww.......

Mine, too! Hot on the heels of my first show, this was my first
exposure to the Deadhead Culture (and lack thereof) that we all know
and sometimes love. I had very different experiences all three days,
depending on whose company I kept.

Powerful show, well-played from start to finish. I attended with two
old friends from high school who were fairly unfamiliar with the band.
They both proved to be quick studies in the ways of decadence, and we
had a blast. After the show we drove thirty miles into the High
Country and camped near heaven.

I went to this show with my now-brother-in-law, a touring vet and to
this day one of my closest friends. Spending time with him that day
was the beginning of an enduring bond.

The weakest show of the run by far. The first set never got off the
ground, and the second set picked up right where the first one left
off. Garcia woke up during drums and the Space through NFA segment
partially redeemed the show. Wheel>Black Peter was sublime, and
Throwing > Away was amazing. Having never experienced a NFA crowd
chant, I left the show positive that I had just participated in a
totally unique and spontaneous example of Group Mind. And maybe I
did....
We went to Boulder, where I hooked up with two old friends from
college, both beautiful blond granola gobbling hippie girls.... oh,
my!

Best show I ever attended, hands down. I arrived tired and
partied-out, not really in the mood for another show. The 2pm start
times for all of these shows made for a weird experince... I've not
experienced such an early start time for any headliner at any concert,
before or since.

Audience tapes will reveal a bizzare rendition of the Star Spangled
Banner at the beginning of the show, much of which was the tapers
section geting crazy. That sequed into a psychedelic mess of a "Frozen
Logger," but from then on the "X" factor was alive, well, and grabbing
us by the scruff of our collective necks. Yowza! It was all... well,
"just exactly perfect."

I left this show for a week of backbacking in Canyonlands/Utah,
providing for myself the perfect Yin to my GD101 Yang.

Nothin's gonna bring him back!

except for the painful intros to UJB and Comes A Time. Remove that total of 1
minute from the show, and I'll agree!

The soundboard tape has this, too, though it's pasted on the end of Frozen
Logger. IIRC, it was the band and not the tapers, same as Logger (which
preceeded it). Mickey and Billy out from on penny whistles and vocals. A
little Pranksterism!
