What are keys?
What are good tactics?
Anyone know any cheats?
I've lost my copy of AU and can never beat the nasty knight! Progress is
very slow as I keep on going backed to saved games.
Many thanks for any help,
Tom,

That may well work; I found it more effective to go more slowly though.
There's a finite speed at which your knight can swing his sword, and it's
quite possible to make quite slow, deliberate movements with the mouse to
control each stroke. The mouse buttons are used; ISTR that holding down the
left button was a Good Thing.

If you haven't beaten the opposing armies in the strategy section then you
haven't nearly finished the game! There's a multi-level maze section after
that, where you have to run around picking up keys or something, followed
by a rather bizarre space-invaders section with gooey blobby things that
land on you and bats to shoot. Only after a dozen levels or so of that is
the game over!
As far as tips for the strategy game goes, ISTR that standing still and
waiting for the enemy to advance towards you was a good tactic, since that
conserved your food/energy reserves whilst depleting the enemy's.

Don奏 know about cheats, but the tactic I used was basically:
Smash your mouse to pieces. Just ram it from side to side, up and down in
random motions and the knight soon kicks the old rusty bucket. It takes a
bit of practice, but once you宋e got it you never lose it. Bit like riding a
bike, only more pointy.
I宋e virtually completed the game - which is a bit small, if you ask me -
but I can奏 beat the armies at the end. It壮 a bit like chess, and I never
was good at that....
Anybody offer any help?
Cheers,
Simon.

So you can win the archery, have you got any hints for that I'm stuck on it
too!
Many thanks, Tom:-)
This is a bit more complex.
Basically, you have to point your bow in the general direction of the bull壮
eye. Then put the elevation to about 15 degrees.
Fire off a shot and note the power you used. Also note where the arrow
landed. Next you have to realign your bow.
If the arrow landed to the right of the target, move the bow left. If the
arrow landed short of the target, try using a bit more power. If it flew
over the top of the target, try using less power.
The trick is to either keep the elevation constant throughout and adjust
power accordingly, or vice versa. If you change both factors on every
attempt you just end up confusing yourself.
It壮 not easy to get the hang of, but once you宋e got the basics it壮 OK.
Bit like riding a bike, really, just a bit more pointy. Hm...
I told you it was more complicated!! :-)
Meanwhile, can anybody help me on the final battle?
Don奏 you just hate the way it takes so long to get from your castle to the

Download it off the WibbleSoft page somewhere out there in NetWorld.

When you see the arrow at the top of the screen hold down select and move the
mouse in that direction. Best way to win is to do so manicly.

I personally found the best way to be to keep the power as high as possible -
between 80 and 99. The elevation would be used for coarse adjustment of the
vertical position and the power for fine tuning. I found that an elevation
of about 10 to 12 degrees was needed for the earlier targets, and 15 to 17
for the later ones.

You DO know that you can skip the horse-riding animation on the main map
by clicking the mouse again don't you?
If you're just talking about the number of towns you have to stop off in
on the way, then sure it's annoying but not long enough to be a particular
inconvenience IMHO.

An acorn's for life unlike a PC (well most of them).
The best way to win the archery is to aim low and always shoot with maximum
power. Then you can always guarantee getting the same power making the whole
thing a lot easier

Shrug, I completed it and never met him once, I think it depends how fast
you do it though.... He appears aftera certain time.

ISTR that any acronym can be worked out with a little thought. I can be sure
but I /think/ that it means "I Seem To Remember".

Sorry to quote myself! That should be 'can't be sure' not 'can', of course
in fact I believed I could be sure, so obviously when I wrote it I must have
not noticed the mistake. I mean it could have been 'I Sought The Results'
but then it doesn't make sense really, hmm I'm babbling, in fact this is
possibly a bit more embarrising than leaving the mistake in, it's not as if
everyone didn't know what I mean. I'll stop now.
Sorry,
I had the templers fighting for me and I never met him.
On the other hand when I played around with a friends copy years around I
think we met at least 3...and we never even completed it (got bored in
the maze)
I read in some mag a while ago that winning the Archery contest
wasn't needed to finish the game, it was only put in there as a
distraction. This may be wrong though.

You do need to win the Archery contest if you want to raise all the
armies! If you can finish the battle without needing all the armies,
then you don't need to finish the contest! But I can't even finish it
*with* all the armies :-(

It's dead easy with _ALL_ the armies (10). The "last" 2 are practically
impossible to get though - you have to kill the assassin something like
4 or 5 times.
I'm afraid I have to admit to cheating in order to do that. How to do this
properly was what started this thread off originally.

Puzzlement. Sword fighting is easy. all you do is keep clicking and you've
done it. Apart from the occasional flurry of the mouse to parry that damn
assasins sword. Still can't do the bloomin' battle. Smash disk up with
mallet.
Peace out.

Could someone list who all the armies are from and how many you get from
each of the characters. I have the following ones
Herbalist 1
Abbot 1
Innkeeper 1
Miller 1
Templar 2
Salesman ?
Mercenary ?
I have only just completed the salesman & mercenary part and have not
checked the number of armies I have. Are these all the armies, or are
there some I have missed.

Best way to kill the assassins is to go to your castle and save the
game, after talking to the templars. Repeatedly mount your horse and go
back to the castle. After a short time you will be ambushed. Thrash
the mouse from side to side with select pressed. If you survive save the
game and repeat until somebody says you are brave. If not you can
return to the saved game.
