I have installed SupraMax 58i fax/modem which works fine
with XP. However, upon using Winfax to fax or receive a
fax once this is completed I receive the above error upon
attempting a new fax either sending or receiving. I don't
think it's the software, and I can use the modem
repeatedly via hyperterm or any other program. Could this
be just the initialization/termination string? Any ideas
would be appreciated.

This does indeed point to a problem with the WinFax
software. Check their website for info and updates.
