What is happening is that when windows is starting up, it is looking to load
"wjview" ready for you to use when windows is up and running. The problem
is, it cannot find the program, maybe you deleted/uninstalled it. No biggie,
but at does result in the annoying error message.

There are two ways to deal with this, one way is to type MSCONFIG into your
Start>>Run box, then select the "Startup" tab, and untick the offending
entry. However, all this does is to move the shortcut out of the start-up
sequence, but it doesn't remove it. It isn't intended as a permanent
start-up manager, and does have some shortfalls.

The other way, is to remove the entry completely, either manually or with
start-up/cleaning software. All the details are here:

Tony,

You can safely uncheck C:\Windows\Wjview.exe on
the startup tab of Msconfig as it is the Microsoft Java
Virtual Machine Command Line Interpreter and, unless
you need to enter such commands at the command line,
should not be needed by such mere mortals as ourselves. :))

Have you recently reinstalled or updated the MSJVM?
Microsoft Java Virtual Machine NOT the Sun Java Virtual
Machine from www.java.sun.com?

You can actually use Wjview.exe to determine exactly what
build you presently have installed. Type Wjview in the start menu
run dialog and press enter. I am using an older version (I cannot
seem to use any versions later than 5.00.3802: [3802 is the build
number]).

The latest version of the MSJVM for Windows 98 can be downloaded
here!

MSJVM Build 3809

http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/10/18/10-18-20.shtml

MSJVM Build 3805 can still be obtained here (I hope)

http://cws.internet.com/ie-msjvm.html (more information on it all)

http://ftp.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/systems/win95/fixes/VM/msjavx86.exe (actual
download)

Brian R.
