Am trying to get Apache Version 2.0.43 running on an XP Home addition
machine with a @,0 GHZ Pentium 4 and 512 MB Memory. Have downloaded and
installed "apache_2.0.43-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi". It install just fine and I
checked the file with MD5. However when the deamon starts it just starts
writing to the error file over and over. It used to work but something has
happened. I have McAfee Virus shield running. The error logs records at
startup are:

[Mon Nov 11 19:17:24 2002] [notice] Parent: Created child process 3740
[Mon Nov 11 19:17:24 2002] [notice] Child 3740: Child process is running

and they just keep on and on and on

I recall reading in this group earlier that this error may have
something to do with your McAfee running. Suggest you close it down
temporarily and test again. I'll try to find the post with any
recommended workaround.

If it starts with McAfee down, let us know; if is not the problem and
it won't start with McAfee down, there may be another problem.

OK. Found what I was looking for.

First, read this to see if it resembles your problem:

Also be sure you now have SP1 for XP.

Blessed be Mr. Bill (Rowe)!

Thanks Much!!!

I uninstalled McAfee and Apache is running fine. May reinstall McAfee 7..
And see if I still have the problem. If I do will try patch discussed at:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=3DAB8748.40209

And seee if they fix the prob. Will post the results!!! You are right. Think
McAfee needs to fix their prob. Thanks much again.

Reinstalled MacAfee 7.0.. and the patch. Got the same problem back.
Actually didn't start writing to the error file until I accessed the server
with my WEB browser.

Any other advice would be appreciated.
