my roommate is obsessed with Sara and Buffy, and when he saw the pictures from
Rolling Stone he almost choked because he was suprised at the amount of arm
hair she had. i didn't see what the big deal was.

Armpit hair on a woman is the worst. I don't give a crap if they feel
natural, or I'm a bastard for having a preference. Plenty of well
shaved fish in the sea, thank god!

Yeah, but the problem is your nets get snarled in all the body hair.

Kidding. Actually I kind of like au naturale females sans makeup etc.

I may regret asking this, but you've removed your
body hair from . . . *everywhere*??? Some areas
are more 'delicate' than others and it could be
quite painful......

hey-sarah's hot no matter how much hair she's got. it's cool that
she can be her natural self and not have to shave her arms just
to please others. just as long as she ain't got a big fat hairy mustache...

Hey, if they are allowed to not like men with facial hair, doesn't that
mean we're allowed to not like women who dont shave their legs or pits?
Equal rights, eh? :-)

Funny, I was just thinking to myself, "Self, what this newsgroup needs is
a comprehensive thread about arm hair!" And viola, here we are!

Anyway, if you don't like body hair, you most definitely should avoid
Europe. Unlike we barbaric Americans, they don't force women to shave
their armpits and legs in order to conform to some senseless
quasi-Puritan, anti-natural, most likely misogynistic dumbass ideal of
what a woman should be.

Of course, that's just my opinion. <grin>

(Read on for Buffy content-- I promise)

Hmm... yet another reason Giles and Jenny were perfect for one another. She
probably hates shaving her legs, and he's English. There you go.

And to bring this slightly back on topic for Buffy: her arm hair isn't anywhere
close to being gross! I did notice it... I believe it was in 'Angel,' but I
think that's only because I heard it mentioned here. I did think it was funny,
though, that her arm hair is so blonde when her hair is dark.

Hey---for the record, my dislike of bady hair is not based on the views pressed
upon me by the American society in which I've grown up. I am actually half
Israeli and spent many summers there. The women there don't all shave either
and it still bothers me. I am in no way trying to conform to a qausi-puritanist
mentality. I'm just stating my own opinion. I am also very aware that we
(meaning Americans) , as a people have a complete different set of standards
and values that differs from the rest of the world. Europe, is a prime example.
There it is socially acceptable for a woman to not shave their armpits or legs.
It's the same in Israel. It's simply a matter of opinion. Some people don't
like facial hair on guys. Some people like girls with long hair. I don't like
body hair. That's all.

Hey! Why do women get preferential treatment here? My girlfriend makes me
shave my armpits and body hair too! I'm sure this is a common occurence.
Right?

Hahaha...of course I'm kidding...I'm on the internet far too much to have a
girlfriend. =)

That should read "in order to conform to some senseless advertising ideal
of what a woman should be." Not that the other stuff didn't add to the
power of the advertising, but getting women to shave armpits and legs
came about mostly through ad pressure to be more "feminine"- and, of
course, to buy more shaving products.

SMG's arm hair, of course, makes her no less a woman. :)

Look, I live in Israel, okay? I'm like the only girl in my class that
doesn't shave her legs (and I'm barely in eighth grade!), cause I agree with
the opinions of The CD list guy and hopefully every person in Europe. And
Israel is not that liberal, believe me. My friends were shocked to discover
I don't plan to shave before going to the pool. And it's not like they like
it that much either. They think it's a total nag. But they do it because
they have to or they'll be unusual and possibly ridiculed, which, I beg your
pardon, is the dumbest excuse. And as for the guy who asked the CD list guy
if he were married, I'm just saying: "Who cares?". The important thing is
standing up for your beliefs and never do things your principles conditract,
and if the means some people won't like you, well, you have to make
sacrifices.
