Just read an advance copy of Prey. I don't want to give too much away but
Michael Crichton (before now my favorite author) *appears* to have done
something very naughty. I read a great book recently called Decipher, by
Stel Pavlou. It's just come out over here, but I understand it was released
in the UK a couple of years ago and became a bestseller. Well vast amounts
of Decipher features nano-technology swarms that can group together and
become creatures that kill people. It was a brilliant piece of writing and
highly exciting. The problem is - Crichton seems to have read this and just
out and out stolen that part of the book. (the rest of the book is about an
adventure to Atlantis)

I can't believe this! Don't believe me? Just go read Decipher, then pick up
a copy of Prey when it arrives in the shops.

Oh there's lots of hi-tech gadgetry (some plausable, some a little out
there)
It's set in the year 2012 because that's the year Mayans predicted the
end of the world. The nano-tech parts of Decipher kick in about 100 pages
in.
There's the whole exploration of Carbon 60, very detailed.

Prey, well - I still loved it :) Just feel cheated.

Famous people on a newsgroup!

You're mentioned in the back of the book!
Unless you're pulling my leg :(

What did Stel have to say about Prey?
Has he read it too?
