a question about more than 10 multi-monitor supporting under WinXP

I have a question regarding to the WinXP multi-monitor(more than 10
monitors) support.
I found the Windows control panel application can only support 10
monitors, and it cannot support more than 10 monitors at one time,
I am not sure whether win98 have this limitation,or not. Is the
limitations of control panel only special to WinXP? How to go beyond
the 10th monitor under WinXP?

Any body have met the same problem?
Any replies are welcome.

How many video cards or total heads do you have in your system?
Can you describe your configuration a bit?

Thanks for your response.

I had two multi-display cards, there are 9 display chips on one card
and 4 display chips on the other card. I had developed the video
driver for these multi-display cards under the win2k/xp, the
driver can be installed suceessfuly, as I can find there are 13
adapters in the Hardware Device Manager, and I can set mode to each
screen with our setmode applications developed specially for these
multi-display cards and it can work well.

But I found there are some limitations on the control panel utility
under winxp , I can not find the 11th or later monitor and at
meanwhile I can not operate those monitors through the WinXP control
panel, too.

Could you help me?Any replies are appreciate.

I found out and confirmed that there is indeed a limitation in the control
panel applet, which is 10 adapters as you have found out. You can of course
have more devices than 10 and get them to work. They just won't be seen in
the display property applet - if you need to see all your devices/heads, you
would need to write your custom property applet.

Thanks to multi-monitor newsletter for alerting me to your thread.
I've been using 10 monitors OK with win 2k (2 matrox quad cards and
one double) in a multi monitior video installation. I want to increase
this number and found that NT4 supports up to 16 monitors. It should
be possible to create a new dual boot system win 2k / NT4 but the
thought of that fills me with some dread. If either of you guys finds
a way around being able to see and configure the monitors in the
display settings of win 2k taht would be fantastic - i need to see
these settings to arrange the monitors on the (large) desktop. I read
that SP3 improved the accuracy of lining up the monitor icons in the
display panel. My system has no Service packs on and the lining up is
a bit trial and error but works now.Regards
