Hi, I'm pretty new to all this so please excuse any mistakes. I was wondering
whether anybody else remembered a programme called 'Round the Bend" (made by
Hatrick or something), which involved various animals living in a sewer. One
was called Doc Croc I think and from what I can remember it was quite risky
for children's tv. Everybody else I have asked looks at me in bemusement, so
I hope somebody else remebers it. Any offers?

Ehehe yep! A childrens show made by the same people who produced
other Hat Trick programmes (cf Chelmsford 123) and in the same vein.

My memories are slightly vague ... gosh I was about 12! The boss was
indeed Doc Croc; there was also a female journalistic hamster with
glasses who kept popping up in famous people's toilets hoping for an
interview and getting promptly squashed, another hamsterlike creature
(male) who kept ketting hit by Doc's tail, and some kind of artist as
well ....

I can't remember any other names at the mo but if I see them I'll go
'oh yes'!

The opening credits gave the impression that 'Round the Bend' was
basically a comic for TV. There were also quite silly cartoons in it
frequently, parodying real cartoons, and I *think* it was in 'Round
the Bend' that they had a kind of serial going called 'False Teeth
from Beyond the Stars' (spoof on typical
aliens-invade-the-Earth-and-the-only-people-who-can-stop-them-eventually-fall-in-love
story) but I may or may not be mistaken!

Hope this helps; i'm sure other people out there have better memories
than me!

Ian.

Yes, I remember it! Children's ITV around 1990/1 if I remember correctly.
Also shown on The Children's Channel on satellite a few years ago.

I seem to remember among the features were "False Teeth From Beyond The
Stars" and "Wee-Man and the Masters of the Looniverse". The opening titles
started by being flushed down a toilet and then dirty water slooshing round
a sewer.

I do remember that the puppets were by the Spitting Image Workshop.

Made for Yorkshire Television by the same team (well, more or less)
that worked on Oink Comic (yes, a real comic, not a TV programme) back
in the 80's.

*Very* similar in style to Oink Comic, altho a little toned down.

Hi
I'm fairly sure the show was written by two friends of mine Craig Ferguson
and Patrick Gallagher.
I've been working with them recently on another show Out Of Tune and seem to
remember them mentioning it.
I know they've got another equally good idea under developement at the
moment, again, I think, with Yorkshire Television. haven't spoken to them
for a few weeks but I'll ask next time..
