When I search for anything in explorer, I get a Search
Companion java applet with
a yellow triangle on it with an exclamation mark in it. I
click OK and the applet
disappears but nothing else happens.

In the white right half of the screen it says: "To start
your search, follow
the instructions in the left pane."

In the left pane it says it is searching but it never
finishes or does anything else.
I click on stop after several minutes and nothing happens
other than the word
stop "greys out". It has never done anything other than
this. It has never found
anything I search for by name, file type etc... I have
been in preferences and
changed things to no avail.

Please help as my Windows 98 search companion was great
and this
Windows XP one seems to be rubbish.

Hi Carl,
Go here http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm
and scroll down to "Search - Doesn't Work" and
just below that "Yellow Triangle with Exclamation Point"
Good Luck!
