Hello,
When i am booting up my Windows 98 SE i am getting
an illegal operation error when i get to my desktop.
Part of the error message is as follows: DW caused an
invalid page fault in module DW.EXE at 015f.0043122C. I
recently downloaded Kazaa. Could this be tied into the
error message. Any replys to this posting are greatly
appreciated. Thanks

Hi Rolf,

DW.exe is included with IE6, or as a separate download for IE5.5. It is used for error reporting. See this article about what it is and how to disable the error reporting.

Description and Availability: Internet Explorer Error Reporting [Q276550]
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q276550

It is also included with OfficeXP. On another note, it could also be symptomatic of a viral infection. This link explains why:

I had a problem with that file and a few more and they all came in with
spyware called Downloadware that was automatically downloaded from a web
site. My computer was grinding to a halt while that mess ran in the
background. I ran Adaware and everything was cleaned up.
