Thanks to Greg Newell, Steve Sorrell, Mike Yee, MikeS for the info so
far! Here's what I have put together:

Anyone have anymore? C'mon, hasn't Madison won best guard? How about
Cavies? I'll have to ask my sisters about 72 & 73 just to see if their
memories are as bad as mine :-> I'll see Betsy and Luann in July, just in
time for Precision West! Gee, the last time I saw a show in
California, was.. um... yikes! in the eighties! (pardon the tangent :)

Anyway, color guard did have its own point allotment in the recaps which
was included in the total score for two years, 1978 and 1979. SCV and 27
both received 2.0 out of 2.0, but SCV (I have been told) took the guard
caption. I forget the rationale -- perhaps it was because SCV had the
higher GE Visual or Total GE score (?). Here's the GE breakdown '78:

Using the same logic as above, then I would guess that Blue Devils took
high guard in '79. See GE breakdown below for guards who scored 2.0:

You're right!

I'm trying to gather as much info as possible for final championships Then
I feed what I gather to Chris Maher for his web site at
http://www.maherassociates.com/dcisongs and for Cathy Doser for her
history page. I'm still in search of *recaps* (not scores) of Senior
corps, All Girl, and Class A championships. Since I'm on this subject, I
would also like recaps for Div II and II final championships for the years
that these divisions have been in place. If someone has hard copies of
the recaps for any years for any of these divisions, ask me for my
snail-mail addy and I'll send it to you.

I believe Cadets won color guard in 1993.

1983, DCI in Miami Best Color Guard was the MADISON SCOUTS.

According to the vids, BD won guard in 84. 93 and 94 were Cadets years.
