Halo (xbox) has now sold almost 3.5 million copies, how is this in the big
scope of things?
Anyone got an idea on what games are the best selling, on any platform?

Why isn't Grand Theft Auto III in here somewhere?

Did GT 1+2 sell less than 6 million each?

I copied it from a thread in the newsgroups a few months back. I believe the
original source was NPD Funworld, an organization that tracks game sales.
Unfortunately, you have to be a corporate subscriber to get most of their
research (other than the monthly Top 10 sales charts).

Maybe you can try a Google search?

Wha? This is the biggest selling PSX game ever? I'd think I'd've heard
about that before now...

A few years ago, I asked my friends at Sony what the biggest selling PSX
game was, and they told me it was....

...Frogger!

At first, I was quite surprised. I thought that it would be Tomb Raider 2,
Gran Turismo, or Metal Gear Solid. But, after thinking about it, it makes
sense. Frogger appealed to girls/women in a way that a game like Metal Gear
Solid probably never did. Since it is rated "E," I think it can be safe to
say that it was also more popular with younger children (and parents buying
games for young children) than an "M" title like MGS. Finally, there's the
nostalgia value, and the fact that it was an arcade-style game rather than a
racer or sports title that might appeal only to fans of the genre.

Not sure when Sorcerer's Stone passed Frogger up, but that makes sense as
well. It tied in with the movie/book phenomenon, it appealed to both guys
and gals, and it was rated "E" for everyone.
