I just replaced the machine screws that hold the handle to the top of
the cover with #10 (same diameter) x 1 7/8 machine screw hook. Ace
Hardware has them. The UPC is 38613 22888. They are rated for 40 lbs each.

I figure that I can remove the upper grill and hang a good sized turkey
or fresh ham, tightly wrapped in cheesecloth, from the cover. With some
additional hardware I could get a whole lot of ribs hanging in there, too.

That would be worth a picture up on alt.binaries.food, Matthew. I think when
folks come up with modifications, a picture helps those of us that are
visual learners :-)

Once the rain stops, I'll take a few pictures. I'll have a stability
modification for the fire pot, too. The current mod from the faq leaves
you with a hateful wibbly, wabbly, wobbly fire pot. Not a good idea.

Now, if I stack my two ECB bodies and hang a small whole pig from my new
hangers ...

That would work even better with an [electric] Gourmet version of the ECB,
since it's taller than the standard ECB.
