Grease on patio?

The first time I used my ECB for cooking I got chicken fat on my patio.
AH-HA! thought I, I'll just take a section of soaking wet plywood and
put that under the ECB. So, it didn't +quite+ catch fire, but it did get
scorched from the coals that fell on it.

Today, I picked up a 26" diameter aluminum pan and put it under the ECB.
It's intended use is under a water heater. $17 at home depot. It looks
like it will keep the patio clean.

I actually use a broken down cardboard box for under the ECB. It hasn't
scorched and barely even browed from any sort of heat. The firepan must
do a good job of disappating heat.

This is EECB, so maybe the design is different - firepan sits in another
pan, but it has no problem with getting too hot underneath.
